Netgear and @home troubles

I just got a Netgear MR314 wireless 4-port switch/router and I was able to get it working with the internet, but every time I try to check my e-mail it tells me that it can't find the server. Right now my outgoing and incoming servers in Outlook are set to mail. I'm pretty sure I just need to find out what the actual IP address of the mail server is to fix this, or perhaps I need to change something in the config of my router? Anyone have any idea?

Not sure about your particular router, but most have a domain setting in the setup of the router that would need your @Home domain added for items such as NEWS or MAIL to work properly. In Lexinton, KY (for example), the domain is lxintn1.ky.home.com and when placed in the domain setting of the router, any mail command would be expanded to mail.lxintn1.ky.home.com. An easy way to find out what your Domain is is to hook straight to the cable modem (no router), go to a command (DOS) prompt and ping mail. The ping should expand the mail out to the full mail with domain. Use that domain.

Do exactly what Engineer said. You can always call up @home and get your full domain name as well.
