Hey all,

Does anyone have this router/VPN yet? If so what do you think of it?

I am looking to replace my Lynksys BEFSR41 with one. I like the VPN idea and would like to be able to share "things" with specific friends.

i have noted a firmware update for this router that fixes alot of previous problems, but I am looking for user input.

Bump for ya, since I was wondering the same thing. Seems good on paper, but user input would be great.

I basically wanted a dsl router with an 8 port switch, so this model seemed pretty good for me at the time. I like the configurability of the netgear routers so I opted for this one a few weeks ago. It's a great router/firewall. However, right now there are a few caveats (that they are working on): 1) the firewall is extremely sensitive and disconnects me sometimes from aim and ssh connections and others...it loggs it as "suspicious tcp data" then drops the packets, resulting in a lost connnection. Hopefully they will fix this soon, becaues it's quite annoying. 2) Seems to have problems with standard mtu's when dealing pppoe, i don't know the specifics because i'm using a dsl modem with static ip.

I would say those are the main problems right now...it appears they kinda shipped the router w/ a firmware that wasn't too great, so they are currently working on updates (they came out with a new beta firmware update yesterday).

I'm quite confident they will come out with a decent firmware soon which will fix all the bugs and add a lot of new features...the overall web interface to configure the router is pretty nice, just needs some work here and there to get those bugs out.
