This is an excellent price for a good Wireless 4 port 802.11b router. I have been very happy with the Netgear MR814 that I have and the dozen or so I have installed for other people.

I have this router, it's good except when you do a lot of traffic it drop the connection and has to be reset, even with latest updates. It's annoying

I have had the problem Novon has with all my wireless routers that I have ever owned (Belkin, Linksys and Netgear). It doesn't seem to have anything to do with heavy traffic, just sort of random, especially late at night

Curious, do you use P2P apps like eDonkey/eMule, etc? I've heard that due to the firewalling/SPI implementation, and memory limitations inside these devices, applications opening a large number of concurrent TCP/IP connections, can overload them, and then they start to drop connections and/or lock up.

Microcenter currently has a deal running for a Belkin 4-port wireless 802.11b rounter, and an SMC (CardBus?) PCCard 802.11b network adaptor, after numerous rebates the entire bundle is supposed to be $29.97 or something like that.

I'm not sure how the SMC and Belkin routers compare, quality-wise. I've read some reviews on the Belkin one, and at least with early firmware versions, there were some severe security issues, like disabling SSID broadcast and MAC filtering simply did not work. Also not sure if the Belkin supports WAP (newer than WEP, or do I have that backwards? Good wireless routers should support both).

I've been eying the SMC "g" router, that's ~$40 AR at CompUSA. Trying to figure out if "b" or "g" is better, or if "g" is worth the price. From some reviews that I've read, at longer distances, "b" actually seems to be superior, which surprised me slightly.

I recieved the router less than 24 hours after i placed the order! I was thrilled... until i plugged it in.

This router seems to have major problems, i have to reset it CONSTANTLY or it stops responding completely. It worked for about 6 hours when i first plugged it in, then it lasted shorter and shorter durations now it lasts for about 15 minutes, and i have to go back to a switch and use WinXP ICS to share my connection.

It has the lastest firmwareversion, and netgear doesnt have this problem listed. Any suggestions? ^^

eh, turns out i ended up with sick puppys problems. router seemed to degrade in performance. was never perfect, drops every 15 minutes, but i thought i could tweak that out. eventually it just stopped connecting. "excellent signal" it said in windows... yet no connection. no signal in the same room, on any channel etc. bah. endless resets/setting changes to no avail, this lemons going back.

i have this router. updated the firmware and under intel pro, i put the power cycling at manual and at 100%, no problems here with resetting. did this on both delll laptops at home, and has been working flawless for over 4+ months.

Does anybody have a problem printing out the rebate form? My printer will not print it out right; the form doesn't show up well enough even in greyscale and high image quality.
