The router alone makes it worth having this hardware. Fast, reliable, nice interface, lots of options, easy to configure... Plus the thing just looks sweet

there's been some commotion over at FW about rochelle handling this rebate. Many believe that this rebate would never come or if it does, it'll take an insane amount of time to show up.

I've got this model and love it! It's a breeze to upgrade, but you have to be careful of the cable modem that you have if you buy it. There's an undocumented incompatibility with the DCM-201 cable modems. I ended up having to go out and buy a surfboard cable modem in order to get it to work. That, and the lackluster tech support (from trying to identify said cable modem problem) makes any support attempts a practice in patience.

I like the fact that I've got an unlimited number of port forwards, which Linksys still hasn't decided to do (unless you use the firmware from Sveasoft or something).

there's been lots of complaints about this rebate processing center, but i've gotten every single one i submitted. you just have to be on top of the game by keeping track of when you should be receiving and keeping copies of everything you submitted. might take a fone call or 2 and couple emails, but if it's legit, it'll eventually come.

it doesn't offer 802.1x security like the dlink. but it does seem to have a good firewall. i think i'll go for the dlink instead.

There is a difference between both the rebate form.
Condition one for mailing in the rebate.

The form given by Amazon says:-
" Purchase featured NETGEAR products at a participating e-tailer from 03/01/04 through 06/30/04.

The one given by J&R says :-
" Purchase both featured NETGEAR products at a participating e-tailer from 03/01/04 through 06/30/04.

This got me confused as I thought we had to buy more then one item from netgear to be eligible for the rebate with the statement bolded "both"

I just got this router from J&R last week and I'm returning it.

There are a ton of issues with this router and it's not recommended.
Frequent reboots (every 20 minutes or so) and loss of IP information through the wireless connection AND the wired connection. This is even after I upgraded the firmware.

Apparently, I'm not the only one with these issues.
