one more, how many RJ-45 jacks does it have for wired Ethernet? Wondering if this could completely replace my current DSL router or would I want to keep both.

I've got the Netgear MR314 wireless router and my 2.4 GHz phone does trash the network if they're on the same channel. The problem is easily solved by switching channels on the phone, but it is somewhat annoying.

Little_Po, can you answer my second question above?

Does it have any regular Ethernet ports so that my main computer does not need a wireless card?

I just hooked mine up last night - 4 jacks for wired ethernet. Not too shabby.

What do wireless LAN cards go for? I see the ones there but have no idea if that is a good deal.

2.4ghz wRouters and WLAN cards both interfere w/2.4ghz phones ...depending on the frequency's used by both...but that should be the least of your worries - if you have a microwave that's leaking. 500-1000+mW of interference!

I've been using Netgear wireless at two different places over the last year or so and I've never had any trouble with my 2.4GHz phone interfering. Note that I only use Access points and Routers for my wireless, I don't have any wireless cards (I has just using wireless to basically bridge 2 wired networks). There are settings in the wireless components and on your phone where you can change the channel. As long as your wireless and phone aren't on the same channel (or with 4-6 channels of each other) you will be fine.

For laptops or desktops? Laptop wireless cards are out for like $30

I'm using this wireless router right now. It's pretty much plug n play. I didn't even have to setup anything. Can't wait for the Comp4sure order to arrive so I can bring the one I'm using back to Fry's Fry's charged me $99 for it :Q

Not a clue here but it sounds like the deal I need... I have cable now, coming into the "main pc" at the house. Can someone explain how one would hook this up? I imagine it goes something like this.... Cable comes out of wall and plugs into the router mentioned in this deal. One port can be hardwired into the "main PC' and the antenna sends a signal to any wirelwess remote PCs I have??? Is this how it works. I'm a total noob at Networking. Please help.

Caveman:

Yes, you've got the idea. The cable will plug into the cable modem, and then from the cable modem will plug into the router.

You can plug up to 4 PCs into the router using ethernet cables. You can ALSO have PCs connect to the router wirelessly. You're limited only by the maximum user-limit, which is likely something crazy like 256.

SO, since this thing will probably sit near your "main pc," you'll probably want to plug your main pc into the router using an ethernet cable. Your other PCs you can connect as you see fit, either wired or wirelessly.
