Netscape crashes at random... is there a stable version??

I use both IE and Netscape for different things. The last few versions of the 4.7_ have not been stable. I remember some releases ago that Netscape was much more stable. 4.74?

Any one out there using a version of netscape that is fairly stable?

The last netscape version I remember being stable was 3.0 (Netscape Navigator).

Problem is, it's quite old. I would just import your bookmarks and go with IE, as much as I hate to promote it. Unless, of course, someone can remember what version you are talking about.

The last stable version of Netscape I used was on Windows 95....
Ever since Windows98, Netscape seems to crash from time to time...

It could be that web pages advanced from simple html, tables, and frames to macromedia, buggy style sheets, incompatible javaScript, etc... or it could be that Microsoft intentionally sabotaged Netscape when they embedded IE into the OS.

That sucks, I don't want to switch over to IE either. Netscape on my machine is rather unstable also though. I wouldn't doubt it is MS sabotaging Netscape...

Well, I've tried out the latest 3 versions... 4.76, 4.75, and 4.74. I thought I had a winner with 4.74 but it crashed as I was writing this and loading a page in another window. BUT... it crashed less.

Guess I'll just keep testing. I'm not giving up on Netscape! Anyone else out there with a Netscape that behaves?

4.08 was very stable as a stand alone browser..I have it as well as others older on a drive coming back this weekend if you need a copy email me

Nutscrape and stable can't be used in the same sentence. It will never happen. Remember who ownes Netscape. I'll give ya a hint in case, three letters and it starts with A. I've been dedicated to netscape since my first days on a computer. And as much as I hate to I'm giving up.:disgust: It's down to IE, opera, or mozilla. And the worst part is I've seen them all crash on me.

I'm running 4.75 and I don't have any crashing problems...

Netscape 4.76 and clean install results in no crashes on my Win9x/ME/2k setups. If you are running McAfee Antivirus this can cause problems - especially with Netscape 4.74 from what I can remember.
