I've got a very strange problem that just seem to occur out of nowhere last night. I was browsing using my desktop and it suddenly just crashed on me. After restarting for whatever reason it just won't connect to the network at all anymore.
The computer was using static IP, and I have double checked the setting and none was changed. I even tried to set it to DHCP but it just won't get any IP address at all from my router. Before this error occured everything just work perfect, the reason why I put it on static IP is just to have more control of what IP goes where since I have 4 computers connected to the router.
This computer is running Win 2k SP 3. I have tried uninstall the TCP/IP but that was not helpful, in fact it kinda make things worse, since after I did that now the computer is running very slow for some reason, there is no HD activity or CPU activity (according to system monitor) but the computer was very slow, even after the TCP/IP is installed again. I've also reinstall the network card driver, that didn't help either.
So if anyone can offer any help it would be appreciated. Oh yea basically the setup is that this computer (along with all other computers in my house) are connected to a router. Even with a static IP this computer can't even ping the router. It can only ping the IP 127.0.0.1 and it's own static IP. When using DHCP the IP I got was the 169.x.x.x IP address.
