Network Ready Printer - No detect...

I have a Xerox pe120. Installed all the drivers yadda yadda. Works fine usb cable wise. However, it's network ready and I would love to put it on the network so everyone in the family can print.

I connect the printer via ethernet cable to a switch. Switch is connected to router. All linksys.

When I try to add printer, it does no detect the printer. When I add a ip port 192.168.1.1 and etc, still no detect. Anyone have any suggestions?

It will probably need the interface configured. If it is set for DHCP, then it asked for and got an address from the router. If not, there should be instructions on how to set the IP, netmask, Gateway.

Some printers that are not ment just for Network printing will have special ways to connect.. if you try from windows it will not be found but if you use the software that comes with it and select install as a network printer it will work... At least that is the way my HP 6940 works.... I was kinda disapointed but ehh it is a cheap network printer.. .what could I expect

1. It is best to manually assign it a static IP (see user manual) outside the dynamic range if you are using DHCP. The IP assigned must be consistent with IP addressing scheme of the pcs (check your pcs using the ipconfig command). Test that the IP has been properly configured by trying to ping it from any of the pcs in the network. At the command prompt, type "ping 192.168.XXX.XXX (depending on the IP addressing used). Please excuse if know all this already.

2. On each individual pc, the printer should be added as a local printer using TCP/IP port, not as a network printer.
