Anyone here can help me with install the new router and hub to get home sharing internet?
I got cable internet with AT&T and I couldn't use home sharing internet anymore. Then I bought the
Linksys one port router. I follow the manual to install but I can't get anything as the manual show.
Here is what I setup: I hook up cat-5 from Cable modem to WAN(router). From LAN (router) to the HUB.
From the HUB I run cat-5 to each computers (including the first one or main one).
Follow the manual typing: http://192.168.1.1 but give nothing. The website is not working, the link is dead.
The manual said it should show the setup window.

PLEASE HELP ME TO MAKE IT WORK. TELL ME WHAT TO DO!!!!!!!!!!
Thanks

What kind of cable are you using to connect from the Hub to the Router? If your hub has an uplink port, make sure it is turned on. I believe you have to connect a Straight-through patch cable from the router to the uplink port. If there is no uplink port, then you need a crossover cable from the router to the hub. Make sure all the computers have TCP/IP installed and configured correctly. Hope this helps.

P.S. If anyone sees any mistakes, please feel free to correct them. I'm not too sure on the workings of the hub.

I use regular cat-5 cable to connect but I didn't connect it to uplinkport cause I'm not sure when using uplink port and a port next to it.
On the router also has the crossover switch. It said turn to X if connecting the router directly to computer or Uplink port. If not using II switch. I used II and connect regular cat-5 cable from router to hub. Anyone school me please.

The way to approach it is:

Find out if the Cable service is MAC number dependent.

Connect the Cable Modem to one computer (with the right MAC), and make sure that you have Internet service.

Connect the Cable Modem to the Linksys, and connect the Linksys to the computer that worked before. (if necessary, clone the MAC).

If this is working well then you can try to connect the rest of your system.

Cat5 wise read this:

CAT5 Straight, Crossover. What is CAT5, which one should I Use?
