Hello,

Currently I have a vendor supplied Wifi router with 4 Ethernet Ports.
The router is in the computer room, setup as follows:

Port #1 is used on my desktop PC (3 ft cable).
Port #2 has a 25ft cable running to living room, connected to a wifi router setup as access point (dhcp disabled)

The purpose of port #2 is to share my internet connection with my relative next door. It allows all his wireless devices to connect to my internet & it works perfectly. The subnet starts at .14 as to not conflict with my main router.

In my living room, I also have a PS3 & a laptop which I would prefer to connect via cable. Is is possible to use the remaining ports on router #2? I have more spare routers which can be used to setup additional links.

.

In general it should work.

However there is something unclear.

If the second Router is configured as an Access Point its client subnet should be the same as your main Router subnet.

If you setting work well connecting devices to the second Router ports will put these devices on a second subnet (network) sharing with your neighbor.

Perhaps what I can do, is install another router between 1 & 2.
Router 1: Main Router
Router 2: Connected to Router 1, for devices in living room connected via cable
Router 3: Connected to Router 2, for neighbor via wifi.

Is this possible? My concern will be router #3, as now im getting into some complicated stuff here.

can you connect router 2 and 3 each individually to router 1, so they are in parallel instead of in series?

Here you can see the principle of such Topology.

Please note that any Router configured as a Router (wireless or not) creates its own Independent network pass its Routing which can be a Night mare in cases when ports opening is needed.
