I just recently bought a wireless g usb adapter. When plugged it in, I saw that there was a wireless network without and security. i connected to it and could surf the web. Can i keep doing this without being detected?

The ISP can never detect the packets are coming from different sources, as the router multiplexes everything together. And in any case, how would an ISP ever know if a connection is shared between multiple homes, or just multiple computers in the same home

It is possible to determine if someone is using NAT.

but it's not possible (for the ISP) to know if a wireless client connecting thru a wireless router belongs to the same household or to the neighbour.

yes, if he knows what he's doing & how to view the IP's of the devices connecting to the SSID. Or possible the routers logs

Even if he checks the logs, he won't know who's computer is connected unless you give him your MAC or computer name
