Networking games

I hope someone can help me before I go nuts I have XP on one computer and 98 on the other. I have network the two together and can transfer files between the two without any problems at all. I am using a crossover cable and two net work cards. I have tried to get Nascar 3 and Links 2001 to connect so we can play against each other. I am not having any luck with either game. I have got to be missing something. The two never see each other on the network when we load up the game and go to multiplayer/direct connect. I hope someone can help with this problem. If you need to know any more about my set up please let me know.

I believe you would need to install the IPX/SPX protocol. Good luck.

Ok I tried IPX/SPX and still no luck.

I assume TCP/IP is installed? What IP addresses do the two computers have? Have you tried entering those into one of the two games, as to find the other machine?

Can you share and access files on both machines?

Yeah, some games use TCP/IP, others use IPX, you can install both.
