Need help connecting to an office server through a VPN and a Home Router
My brother-in-law has 3 computers at his house, 1) notebook for work running WIN 98 2) One for his kid for gaming 3) and one for his wife and him to surf the web. He wanted to get a faster internet service then the dial up they were using. So, I got them a US Robotics Router and Adelphia Power Link ISP. Set it up and it works fine, except for his work computer. I can not seem to get it to make a connection through his VPN so that he can get his email from work. He uses Outlook and the VPN is Novel.
When we use the dial up it works through the VPN but it is very slow (30+ min to download one picture slow). When we switch it to the LAN line, we make connection with the VPN fine but when we open up the Outlook application, it comes back with an error that says that there is no connection available to the server. I talked to the dim witted tec guy at the company, and he said that the VPN will not work through a router. "It can not see addresses starting with a 192." But, we are making a connection to the VPN fine, we get the little symbol that shows we have a connection. It seems to me that I do not have something configured right at this end to allow the office servers to get through the router, and it is blocking the server as a good firewall should. My question is, how do I configure the router to allow this connection through his VPN?
Any help and I would idolize you forever, singing your praises on high. And it would save my life, because my bro-in-law is a big man, and I just got him to spend a bunch of money on this router and while his kid is playing games on line, he is still on the slow ass dial-up! hehe
