Networking Problem...

I am working on a Client machine whos tcp/ip config looks like this: IP: 200.200.200.13
SUB: 255.255.255.0
NO GATEWAY

The Server has TCP/IP Settings like this:
IP: 200.200.200.1
SUB: 255.255.0.0
NO GATEWAY

My problem is that the client has an applicatin that runs through tcp/ip, and its not communicating with the server.
Client cannot see anything on the network. I know the subnets are different, but there is a client machine with the same exact setup that CAN see the network. I have de-installed and re-installed Network neighborhood several times with no success...

Any Suggestions?

You said it yourself...the subnet mask. Why are they different? I don't see how they will ever see each other.

You and me both concur on this, yet another client has the EXACT setup and it works fine...????? I'm totally confused!

have you tried changing the subnet mask to 255.255.0.0 on the client machine? does it work? can you then ping the server?

how is the other client machine set up? gateway? etc.. are both clients configured exactly the same?

A few more things...
does tcpip work on that machine...can you ping the loopback 127.0.0.1?
Is the other machine Identical or does it maybe have IPX/SPX or NetBios installed?
