Network Administrator
In this role you will set up, configure, and support internal and/or external networks (LAN/WAN), develop and maintain all systems, applications, security, and network configurations. This position will troubleshoot network performance issues and create and maintain a disaster recovery plan, as well as recommending upgrades, patches, and new applications and equipment. You will provide technical support and guidance to users at all sites (MI, OH, NJ, FL, CA, TX and IN).
JOB RESPONSIBILITIES
* Installs new software releases, system upgrades, evaluates and installs patches and resolves software related problems.
* Performs systems backups and recovery.
* Maintains data files and monitors system configuration to ensure data integrity.
* Has knowledge of commonly used concepts, practices within network operations.
* Supports, monitors, tests, identifies, researches, troubleshoots and resolves LAN/WAN switching and routing problems.
* Responds to telephone calls, e-mail and personal requests for technical support.
* Tracks, and monitors hardware and software problems through software applications to ensure a timely resolution.
* Works with application developers, project leaders, and software vendors to design, size, and implement hardware/network/OS required to support newly purchased applications.
* Communicates effectively with colleagues and management.
* Completes thorough, accurate and timely status reports.
* Works effectively and meets deadlines on project assignments and/or other tasks as assigned.
* Accurate project planning, tracking, reporting and timely delivery.
* Defines budgets, project timelines, and associated resources.
* Provides input and oversight to systems architectures and implementations, as required.
* Provides senior technical and project management support to team.
* Understands the major business functions and maintain working knowledge of all related software components.
Job Requirements
* Bachelors degree preferred, along with 3 to 5 years experience; or minimum of 5 years related experience in a Microsoft & Cisco environment.
* Must understand domains, VPN?s, switches, routers, firewalls and have extensive working knowledge of Cisco related equipment.
* Deep knowledge of Server 2003/2008, SQL Server, Exchange, Active Directory, DNS, WAN and DHCP.
* Must be strong in Windows 2000, XP and Vista.
* Knowledge of MPLS and Sage ACT!
* Experience with Telnet, WRQ Reflections, Linux computing, Mac OS X, and Virtualization.
* Help Desk experience helpful ? will be troubleshooting with end users via phone.
* Familiar with industry standard concepts, practices, and procedures.
* Relies on experience and judgment to plan and accomplish goals, and works with minimal supervision.
* Ability to write routine reports and correspondence ? keeping accurate and detailed help desk logs.
* Must be able to communicate at the technical level, user's level, and management level.
* Ability to work effectively with clients, company leadership, management and general staff.
* MCSE certification is preferred.
* You must have 100% hands on experience in all aspects of network administration and end user support
* Ability to immediately adapt to changing requirements and condition, showing a sense of urgency when necessary.
* Experience with firewalls, routers, switches, IP schema, and related resources to maintain a high level uptime of network.
* Knowledge of corporate wide systems, back up and recovery planning.
* Experience with the maintenance and support of desktops, server systems and applications, including operating systems, databases and web servers.
* Experience in all facets of network installations, which includes the physical placement of conduit, category 5 and fiber optic cable, wall jacks, hardware, racks and communications equipment as required.
* Experience testing and documenting installations, dressing and labeling cables, racks, patch panels, etc.
* Ability to communicate effectively is mandatory. Must have end-user support experience. Experience with handheld wireless equipment such as Blackberry, Treo and Palm products a plus.
* Occasional overnight travel is required to service remote locations. Travel away from home is expected to be less than 25% of work. Administrators are expected to be on call on evenings and weekends.
