Networking two homes, need help.

Hi all, I am trying to network two homes together, the problem is
taht they are around 800ft. apart. They are on the same side of the
road, they are on level ground, there is nothing but open field b/w
them. Now what would be the most cost effective solution. I have looked
into fiber optic cabling but it would be about $700 for cable alone
plus fiber media transceivers, so about a grand. Is there a cheaper
solution? wireless maybe? Any help would be appreciated.

I also forgot to mention no broadband connection available so no need
for hook ups and it's just connecting one pc from home a to one pc
in home b. Basically I need an 800ft. crossover cable,lol.

Which translates into two Access Point (AP), configured in Bridge Mode, with two inexpensive directional Antennae.

Decent AP go for $100, Simple directional antenna $50. About $300 for the whole project.

If you get a 22Mb/sec. it will slightly faster for the same money.

Thanks for the help, Is there a particular brand or model I should
go with, and where can I find the directional antennas?

Entry level flexible AP would be, D-Link 900AP+, or Linksys WAP11.

When it comes to Wireless your mileage may vary, there are too many environmental variables that are unique to each individual setting.

Get Returnable Hardware for the initial trial. Fortunately the ostentatious advertising claims of the Wireless Hardware manufactures makes it easy to return.
