networking with xp home

i am having trouble with networking XP home. after six computers are linked to the same server, any additional computers are refused connection saying "too many users logged in" the server is running xp home as are two of the network pc's. the others are running 2000 pro.

Is this a built in handicap for xp Home? is there a fix? please help

XP home can support 5 connections, XP Pro and 2K Pro can support 10

thanks for the answer. If I upgrade the server to xp Pro, will all other network computers require Pro as well? or can I just upgrade the server, and leave the rest at xp home?

10 users seems a bit low. How to add more than that?

I'm pretty sure the other computers are fine. It's the server that has a limit. I think if you run a server OS like Win2000 Server or the new Win2003 Server that comes out this month, they shouldnt have a limit.

If I upgrade the server to windows 2000 server, can I still run clients with a mixed os network? win 2000pro, and xp home at the same time? what if any are the advantages of windows 2003 server?

Mixed clients on a win2k server are fine. Advantages of 2003 server? I have no idea, I suggest you go to microsoft for that one.
