God knows they've got 20 years of court orders backing them.

The people of Nevada are thus disenfranchised and stolen from. Their borders, and inherently all land within, belong to them. I voice for their right of self determination and part of that right must mean not being owned by someone else.

I think the free speech zone was dumb, but probably not illegal. The government has the right to impose reasonable regulations on time and place of free speech on public property. I can only presume it was done in this instance specifically because Bundy had declared his "range war," and armed protesters had started to amass. I still don't endorse it - I think it was a bad idea.

Dubya set the precedence for that long ago, almost every event he was ever at had a "Free Speech Zone" conveniently far away from the action and kept all the riff raff out.

Hard to be a rancher if any and all profits from sales go to the federal government by law, and businesses (namely slaughterhouses) have a lot more to lose if they side with Bundy, who would represent a fraction of their business at best.

Snipers and armed agents should probably be a reasonable standard for armed people who make threats of violence against anyone attempting to carry out court orders.

Nice straw man. When someone is foreclosed on they usually send out a Sheriff, whom, yep is generally armed. And a better example. A good friend of mine is a Director for the Public Health department in the city I live. He tells me when someone calls in to complain about a contractor cleaning lead paint off a building without a permit or various other issues, he has to send one of his inspectors to the site or at times go himself. The inspectors are usually allowed to carry guns (he can as well), and either they are also given a police escort or have instant access to the police. People generally don't like it when you try to prevent them from making their money even when they are doing something illegal that is inherently dangerous to the public (like lead paint and children). He's told me numerous stories of being attacked or his inspectors being attacked.

So, in the case of a contractor illegally scraping lead paint off a building in a city where children live an play. What method do you think the government should employ to prevent that?

The FLM, who I'm sure does this thing often, sent out what they believed to be sufficient manpower to prevent any violence. Obviously it wasn't enough.

You'll have to tell the millennial generation that (which is people up to about age 33), as apparently more than half of them want to see government get even bigger, and people self identifying as liberal outnumber conservatives.

There is nothing "progressive" about enforcing the law and preventing a rancher from effectively stealing government handouts.

This I don't claim to be fully educated in this situation but if a rancher was using my land to feed his cattle I'd at least expect a few steaks from him. You could say it's Government land thus owned by the people but then it's good for everyone to use it for anything and this is an entirely different discussion.

Well, they managed to kill about a hundred thirty cattle attempting to round them up, so if they move quickly everybody directly involved ought to able to carve out a few steaks on him.

Ameircan law inforcement are such pussies today. Back in the day we didn't put up with these types of folks. We would send in tanks or sniper shoot one of them. Or like in PA where they would just bomb the house killing all but one of the squaters.
