That's fine expect that a wolf and tiger are two completely different species. An asshole human is an asshole human no matter what ethnicity they are.
The ethnicity stuff is really beside the point and not important. The main problem is that asshole people were being disrespectful to the OP's wife and he's obviously not okay with that.
I'm very selective on who I call a human. I've seen more human behavior from animals than the degenerates of human society. Once a creature crosses over some boundaries, they lose the right to be called that species and instead becomes a monster.
It is disturbing that society concentrates on being politically correct and guilting potential victims from relaying pertinent and accurate information instead of investigating the claims and offender(s).
Unless we lived in a more homogenous society, describing the appearance of the accused which includes skin color is the logical way to pinpoint and triangulate justice. If not, we reach a boiling point where criminals run free and problems compound so much that no one will trust each other outside of their own group. Living in a multicultural city, I see more of this each day.
People are free to dress or express themselves as they see fit. People should also be free to judge and avoid cultures that tend to breed unwanted traits whether originating from black or white ethnicities.
Somewhere along the way, we started to equate avoidance and reluctance of things one might dislike as being evil racists. No one is entitled to a lawful persons blessing or audience unless earned, mutually agreed upon or given.
