Never share the means to your end. Let your finshed product speak for itself
I learned this back when I was heavy into art, which kind of translates out to two things:
#1 - People feel a need to voice their opinion (especially criticism) when you're on a WIP. They want to give you their input or tell you why it needs changing. I quit showing off WIP artwork to people because of that...finished product only after that! Now I understand why people freak out & say "don't look at it, it's not finished yet!" Not because they're unhappy with the progress, but because people act like...people
#2 - I discovered that an awful lot of people have no imagination & all they can see is what's in front of them. I don't mean that as a negative put-down, but rather in terms of simply not being able to visualize things that don't exist yet. I had always just assumed that everybody could do that, but I learned that there are plenty of people who't can mentally fill in the blank from a half-finished painting to the finished product.
That even applies to IT work...when people watch over your shoulder & say gee, that's all you had to do? Yes, running Malwarebytes isn't rocket science, but knowing where to get it, how to configure the settings, setting up a rootkit scan, scanning with HerdProtect, cleaning out special issues with AdwCleaner, reading logs from Hitman, checking msconfig for bootup entries, looking in the Start menu for shortcuts, checking the Windows timer function for hidden kick-offs, etc. Is it hard? No, but go away while I'm working & let me do my job in peace so you can get back to using your computer, man
