We must stop them! We cannot allow this conspiracy to sap all of our precious bodily fluids. This is why we will only drink grain alcohol and rain water, and why we must eschew the culmination of the sexual act with women so as not be drained of our essence.

BTW, thanks for the racist post, as shole.

Nice....care to tell me how I'm being racist? Hmmm??? Russians are not a race. Like us, and most countries, their population is made up of people from all over the world.

Why am I upset about them selling nuke technology to Iran? Maybe it's because I was alive when they took over our embassy in Tehran and held our people hostage. Maybe it's because Iran has been proven to be a supporter of terrorism. Maybe it's because given the chance those people would do whatever it takes to destroy our culture and way of life.

As for why we are building a reactor for North Korea? I believe it has something to do with the fact that if it were built by Russia, France, etc....there would have been no international inspections of the reactor and it's operation to insure that it is not being used to create weapons grade material. Part of the deal if I remember correctly was that for us to help them build it they had to agree to regular inspections. Do I like it? No, but it's better than them having one and it not being subjected to inspections.

Although I initially took minor offense to it, that statement is the funniest damn thing I've read all day! HAHA! Nice job, Cyberian.

Actually, the Russians, or "white Russians" from the European part of the old USSR -- mainly the Russian SSR -- are, as far as I know, considered a race of peoples.

I fully agreed with you up till this point There are really no Muslims there, i lived in the country for years, hehe. There are all over at Tadjikisan, Tyrkey Borders, Tyrkmenistan, etc... But thats not main Russian land.

Its true, Russians dont give a damn what Iraq does, they are worried about Chechnya, and they have their own terror problems, with Chechny's troops blowing up things in Russian cities.
Here we go
There are Tatars, Bashkirs, Dagestanis, etc, who are muslim, and not to mention Chechnya, which is also part of Russian Federation. A lot of them do live in Moscow and other areas in European Russia, but are mostly concentrated in the Caucasus region and tatarstan area, so living in Moscow you might not recognize there are many Muslims in Russian Federation, but there are. I am not sure what the point of this discussion is, but there are millions of Muslims in Russia, including some of Iranian origin in southern Dagestan.

Me the moron? Do you think for one minute that the technology can't be used for military purposes? Don't be such a fool.

So why exactly is USA building a nuclear reactor in North-Korea?

To ensure that the reactor that is inevitably going to be built is monitored correctly. The North Korean reactor will include cameras and monitoring equipment at all stages of material handling. These resources will be monitored by the atomic energy commission to ensure that no weapons grade material is ever purified and used to create a nuclear weapon. In the 60's the US and it's allies decided that it was fruitless to try to prevent the spread of nuclear reactor technology, the power is cheap, clean and efficient. They decided it was in the best interest of everyone involved to help any country develop a nuclear reactor as long as they signed the nuclear non-profileration treaty and agreed to abide by international monitoring. The nations that refused to adopt this treaty and developed their own reactors internally eventually developed nuclear weapons (South Africa, Israel, Pakistan, India). North Korea AFAIK has refused to sign the treaty but agreed that if we help them construct a reactor they would allow monitoring of the facilities to prevent the production of weapons grade material. This is the reason the US is helping fund the construction, we don't want "other" suppliers building the reactor for NK or we wouldn't have the ability to monitor the facility.

And being half Russian, I took no offense to the title of this thread. Come on people stop being so damn PC.

and regarding the reactors, explain to me why a country with huge oil reserves needs nuclear reactors anyway?

I am not being PC, I am genuinely offended. The title of the thread should be changed since it
does not reflect the topic of the thread (which is a good one).

Besides, regular Russians have nothing to do with this, the Gov. is making the shots.

While the thread title is indeed a rather lame, blunt, generalisation of a whole people, I really don't think he needs to change the thread title.

What is it only okay to post negative posts about America(ns)? God knows there isn't ever a shortage of those.

6 words for you: Freedom of speach. Deal with it.

We do.

But if Russia sell civilian nuclear tech to Iran, isn't that really just their business? Just because USA thinks Iran is wicked, doesn't mean that no country on Earth my do business with Iran. Last time I checked, Iran is getting more and more pro-west all the time. And why should Russia ask for USA's "permission" to do business with Iran?
