Hmm, I don't recall ever hearing reggae on the X, but I don't listen to it all that often.

Good and bad news today. For the bad, apparently there have been more layoffs at HMX. Sorry to those that lost their jobs.

On the good side, one of the laid off employees claimed in a forum post that Paradise by the Dashboard Light by Meat Loaf will be announced on Friday. If true, that is epic win in my book, and I hope more Meat Loaf comes with it.

The rumor for next week just got juicier. It seems there is an error in the European Wii store that is revealing next week's DLC early - the "February Heartaches Duets' Pack". It confirms that previous report of Meat Loaf and adds a bunch of other tracks. If true, this is frickin' awesome, I'm buying this whole pack.

Animotion – Obsession
B.o.B. featuring Hayley Williams – Airplanes
Bonnie Tyler – Total Eclipse of the Heart
The Human League – Don’t You Want Me
Lady Antebellum – Need You Now
Meat Loaf – Paradise By The Dashboard Light
Stevie Nicks – Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around

Thank you RockBandAide.

This DLC is now 100% official! In a very unusual move, HMX is releasing it on Friday instead of Tuesday so that it will be available by Valentine's Day, and they made the announcement today to compensate. This replaces the usual Tuesday DLC so nothing additional will come out on Tuesday. This pack is an insta-buy for me.

Hey gang,

Early DLC announcement this week! You're getting the announcement early because you're getting this DLC early on account of the fact that it's a Valentine's Day pack and we wanted to make sure you had it in advance of the special day! This is the first time that we've been able to release content early on all three systems worldwide, so we're really excited about that. Enjoy!

Please note: The content releasing this Friday, Feb. 11 will take the place of content that would have released Tuesday, Feb. 15.

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (Feb. 11):

• Animotion – “Obsession”
• B.o.B. (featuring Hayley Williams) – “Airplanes”
• Bonnie Tyler – “Total Eclipse of the Heart
• The Human League – “Don’t You Want Me”
• Lady Antebellum – “Need You Now”
• Meat Loaf – “Paradise by the Dashboard Light”
• Stevie Nicks – “Stop Draggin’ My Heart Around” X

(All tracks are original master recordings)
(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system Feb. 11)

These tracks will be available for purchase as individual tracks and as “February Heartache Duets’ Pack” on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii. Tracks marked with “X” will include Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per song
$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points&#8482 per song
$0.99 USD (100 Wii Points/80 Microsoft Points), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade
$10.99, £5.99 UK, €8.99 EU (880 Microsoft Points, 1100 Wii Points) for February Heartache Duets’ Pack

Wow, another great week for me, but I'll take just about any eighties. Pat Benatar 6-pack up for grabs, including Shadows of the Night, my favorite PB song.

The Pat Benatar stuff is a blast to play, and it's a long overdue dose of female fronted rock. A sobering reminder that, even after the V Day duets pack, Love Is A Battlefield. Seriously, very fun stuff, check it out!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (Feb. 22):

• “Fire and Ice”
• “Love is a Battlefield”
• “Shadows of the Night”
• “We Belong” X
• “Invincible”
• “Promises in the Dark”

(All tracks are original master recordings)
(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system Feb. 23)

These tracks will be available for purchase as individual tracks and as “Pat Benatar Pack 01” on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii. Tracks marked with “X” will include Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per song
$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points&#8482 per song
$0.99 USD (100 Wii Points/80 Microsoft Points), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade
$9.99, £4.99 UK, €7.99 EU (800 Microsoft Points, 1000 Wii Points) for Pat Benatar Pack 01

Next week's DLC has a new twist to celebrate the release of the Fender Squier pro guitar. In addition to a Nine Inch Nails 4-pack as regular DLC, HMX is releasing a slew of pro guitar upgrades for existing tracks. I'm not much of a NIN fan but I should be getting a Squier in March so I'm really happy to see these pro guitar tracks (Boston & CCR!).

Next Tuesday we'll be releasing four classic Nine Inch Nails tracks, fresh from the 2010 remaster of 1989's Pretty Hate Machine. Man, 1989. That means Trent Reznor has been angry about stuff for longer than a lot of the people reading this have been alive. Celebrate this landmark industrial album with the four tracks below. Enjoy!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (March 1):

• “Terrible Lie”
• “Head Like a Hole” X
• “Sanctified”
• “The Only Time”

(All tracks are original master recordings)
(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system March 2)

These tracks will be available for purchase as individual tracks and as “Pretty Hate Pack 01” on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii. Tracks marked with “X” will include Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per song
$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per song
$0.99 USD (100 Wii Points/80 Microsoft Points), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade
$6.99, £3.49 UK, €5.29 EU (560 Microsoft Points, 700 Wii Points) for Pretty Hate Pack 01

** Dates for Rock Band game tracks are tentative and subject to change. **

With the release of the Rock Band 3 Fender Squier Stratocaster Guitar Controller next week and with the Fender Mustang PRO-Guitar Controller already out in the world we thought Rock Band fans might like more Pro Guitar songs to master. On March 1st we’ll release Pro Guitar / Pro Bass Upgrades for a bunch of previously released tracks, some of the most popular in the RB library. Check out the list below:

Available for Xbox 360, PlayStation 3, and Wii on March 1st

* Blink 182 – “Dammit”
* Boston – “More Than A Feeling”
* Creedence Clearwater Revival – “Bad Moon Rising”
* Creedence Clearwater Revival – “Fortunate Son (Original Version)”
* Eve 6 – “Inside Out”
* The James Gang – “Funk #49″
* The Knack – “My Sharona (Cover Version)”
* Lynyrd Skynyrd – “Simple Man”
* Metallica – “…And Justice for All”
* The Offspring – “Self Esteem”
* Stevie Ray Vaughan and Double Trouble – “Pride and Joy”

These Pro Guitar / Pro Bass Upgrades will be available for $0.99 each. You must own the original DLC track in order to purchase and play the Pro Guitar / Pro Bass Upgrade. For more information about Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades, visit our support section. Rock Band 3 Pro Mode requires Rock Band Pro-compatible instrument controllers.

Some good RBN news this time, Harmonix has announced that RBN 2.0 will be released on February 15th, 2011. This will allow RBN songs to support keys, pro keys and harmonies. It will also mean that RBN releases after that date will no longer work with RB1/2, just like the regular RB DLC now.

It's 2 weeks later than originally expected, but RBN2 has gone live on the RBN creators site today. We'll have to wait several more weeks for the first RBN2 content to be available in-store, since the peer-review pipeline had to be cleared out before the site was upgraded. I'm definitely looking forward to some Rose of Jericho with keys and harmonies.

Next week, some Depeche Mode (I know 2 out of 3 there) and a Death Cab for Cutie single. I was hoping to pick up the Fender Squier this month, but there are availability problems and now the check engine light on my car has turned on, so I might be screwed for a while. :'(

Hey gang,

Next week's DLC will see two awesome bands joining the RB library for the first time! Depeche Mode arrives with a full pack with a Pro G/B upgrade for their hit Personal Jesus and Death Cab For Cutie come out swinging with an excellent single. New bands are always great to see, and we've seen plenty of requests for these two bands over the years and we're happy to have them in the family!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (March 8):

• Depeche Mode – “Never Let Me Down Again”
• Depeche Mode – “Personal Jesus” X
• Depeche Mode – “Policy of Truth”
• Death Cab For Cutie – “I Will Possess Your Heart”

(All tracks are original master recordings)
(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system March 9)

These tracks will be available for purchase as individual tracks and as “Depeche Mode Pack 01” on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii. Tracks marked with “X” will include Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per song
$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per song
$0.99 USD (100 Wii Points/80 Microsoft Points), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade
$5.49, £2.49 UK, €3.99 EU (440 Microsoft Points, 550 Wii Points) for Depeche Mode Pack 01

It appears that the European Wii store is leaking next week's DLC (is there enough bathroom innuendo in there for you?). I'm not too excited about most of it but I will grab Every Breath You Take if this is accurate - here's hoping for pro guitar on that one.

WAR - Spill the Wine
OK Go - Shooting the Moon
The Police - Every Breath You Take
The Police - So Lonely

On the plus side, I just got the cost to fix my car and I think I'll still be able to afford my Squier order. Whew!

HMX has made the DLC leak official with an early announcement today, presumably because they are off to PAX East this weekend. Every Breath You Take got pro guitar like I hoped, so that's a bright spot. They also announced that this is the final RBN1 week for PS3 and that those updates will go on hiatus for a bit just like the 360 ones are now, until RBN2 content is ready to port over.

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (March 15):

• OK Go – “Shooting the Moon”
• The Police – “So Lonely”
• The Police – “Every Breath You Take” X
• War – “Spill the Wine”

(All tracks are original master recordings)
(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system March 16)

Price:

$0.99 USD (100 Wii Points/80 Microsoft Points), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade

A few DLC tracks on the 360 have gone on sale for St. Patrick's Day. You can get these for half off:

Social Distortion's - "Bad Luck" - 80 MSP
Green Day Pack 01 ("21 Guns," "East Jesus Nowhere," and "Know Your Enemy") - 220 MSP

One last bit of DLC news for today - the first RBN2 track is out! It's Blue (Da Ba Dee) by Eiffel 65. Apparently this was a pretty big hit back in 1999, but I don't recall hearing it before.

I'm shocked that you don't recall the song. Maybe you're a bit younger though, it was very short lived (and for good reason). One of the best definitions of one hit wonder you'll ever see. And it's an absolutely terrible rock band song. It's all techno... so it has vocals (really bad ones) some keyboards, and maybe they can pretend the drums weren't done on a computer and they make you actually play them. I don't understand how they can put a guitar or bass in it.

Guess they really put an emphasis on the bass in that song. I don't remember hearing one in the original. I'm embarrassed to say at one point I listen to this a LOT.

It's entirely possible that I heard it and just forgot about it. I rather doubt that I'm younger than you. I wasn't even particularly young when I joined AT, and that was 10 years ago.

Well then you might have been too old to hear it either. Unless you were listening to certain pop radio stations at the time it was popular it was easy to miss.

Remember the promised Billy Joel Piano Challenge Pack? Game Informer has spilled the beans a little early on next week's DLC and the pack is here!

I Go to Extremes
Miami 2017 (Seen the Lights Go Out on Broadway)
My Life
Prelude/Angry Young Man [PRO]
Scenes from an Italian Restaurant
She's Always a Woman

That's another awesome selection of Billy Joel in addition to the 12-pack from last year.

Moving over to the RBN side of the house, one of the weirdest pieces of DLC I've ever seen for Rock Band is in the works. Remember Antoine Dodson, AKA "Dey rapin' everybody out heah!"? The YouTube parody song Bed Intruder will be released on RBN; here's a preview. Hide your kids; hide your wife!

First reaction to next week: Holy sh*t, Through the Fire and Flames on pro guitar! Also, the classic tracks are decent, I at least want Jefferson Airplane, maybe all of them.

DLC Week of 3/29 - Jefferson Airplane, Santana, DragonForce, Blood Sweat & Tears!

Hey gang,

It's an interesting pairing of songs this week for sure! The Days of Peace Pack sees 3 legendary classic rock tracks from the late 60's and early 70's, while the singles bring some of the most notoriously difficult songs in music gaming to the RB library. Enjoy!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (March 29):

Days of Peace Pack 01
• Jefferson Airplane – “Somebody to Love”
• Blood, Sweat & Tears – “Spinning Wheel”
• Santana – “Black Magic Woman” X

Singles
• DragonForce – “Through the Fire and Flames” X
• DragonForce – “Operation Ground and Pound”

(All tracks are original master recordings)
(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system March 30)

These tracks will be available for purchase as individual tracks and as “Days of Peace Pack 01” on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii. Tracks marked with “X” will include Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per song
$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per song
$0.99 USD (100 Wii Points/80 Microsoft Points), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade

So, double DLC news today. It looks like someone at HMX screwed up this morning and released the wrong DLC promo video. There's no telling if it was for the 4/5 DLC or something later, but it leaked 3 songs that are coming out:

Joy Division – Love Will Tear Us Apart
Grand Funk Railroad – American Band
J Geils Band – Freeze Frame

I'll probably grab Freeze Frame and American Band when those come out.

Not much of a surprise given the leak, though I wasn't expecting to see 3/4 of them with pro guitar. I'll probably get everything except Joy Division.

DLC Week of 4/5 - Grand Funk Railroad, Joy Division & J. Geils Band!

Hey gang,

No joke, here are the tracks coming out next week. In addition to seeing some crazy variety in these singles (seriously, could there be two bands more dissimilar than Joy Division and J. Geils Band?) it's worth pointing out that 3 of the 4 tracks have Pro Guitar upgrades available. That should give all you Squier and Mustang owners out there something to work on for the next week or so, assuming of course that all of you have already mastered Through The Fire and Flames from last week. Enjoy!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (April 5):

· Grand Funk Railroad – “The Loco-Motion”
· Grand Funk Railroad – “We’re an American Band” X
· J. Geils Band – “Freeze-Frame” X
· Joy Division – “Love Will Tear Us Apart” X

(All tracks are original master recordings)

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system April 6)

These tracks will be available for purchase as individual tracks on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii. Tracks marked with “X” will include Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per song

$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per song

$0.99 USD (100 Wii Points/80 Microsoft Points), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade

Pretty nice variety this week with singles cutting across genres - funk, metal, 80s, you name it. I'm definitely getting a few of these, especially 867-5309. YouTube links in the OP as usual.

DLC Week of 4/19 - Mastodon, Tommy Tutone & a little tune called Love Rollercoaster!

Hey gang,

The next round of DLC is a solid batch of singles from a healthy assortment of artists. Some 70's funk, 80's pop, modern metal and more! Expect to see 3 pro guitar upgrades, most notably on the fan-funking-tastic Love Rollercoaster. Enjoy!

We've got an early lead on next week's DLC - Gibson is reporting an upcoming Roy Orbison 3-pack to celebrate what would have been Roy's 75th birthday.

Also, Starbucks will be offering its own exclusive Orbison collection, OPUS in May and starting April 26, Harmonix will offer a three-pack of Orbison songs in the Rock Band 3 Music Store of downloadable content for the Xbox 360, PlayStation 3 and Wii. The songs in the pack are: “Blue Bayou,” “Dream Baby (How Long Must I Dream)” and “Only the Lonely (Know the Way I Feel).”
