Apparently, there's a rather massive Rock Band song sale!
http://www.ign.com/articles/2012/09/18/rock-band-celebrates-5-years-with-massive-sale
PDF with all the songs on sale listed:
http://www.rockband.com/content-assets/2012/09/RBDLCsaleGraphic.pdf
Anyone know when this goes live? I can't find the discounted prices anywhere. They were full price yesterday on my xbox, and are still full price right now on xboxlive.com.
The sale is supposed to go live sometime today, so don't worry, it's still coming.
Ok, thanks. Just thought I'd seen them on xboxlive today.
I was thinking the discounts might only show up in the Rock Band Store. Any thoughts about that?
Just wanted to pop in to let folks know that we're working with Microsoft to iron out the store listings for everything. As mentioned in the initial announcement post, it's not an instantaneous price change and the roll out will happen on 360 over several hours. Those changes are still taking affect and, it turns out, 1,100 songs is a boat load of content and it takes longer than expected to update. So keep posted and everything should be corrected shortly!
The 50% discounts are showing up on xboxlive, but only for some songs.
Example - I'm seeing 80 points for Journey's "Don't Stop Believing," Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart", and Jimi Hendrix Experience "Purple Haze," but not for Bangles "Walk Like an Egyptian" or any Lady Gaga songs from her original album, despite all being listed on the PDF linked above.
Guess it's being rolled out very slowly.
Just wanted to update that we had a meeting about this first thing this morning. We're still waiting on additional info from Microsoft, but we've confirmed that prices are still updating on a rolling schedule, just slower than expected. The hope is to now have all content priced correctly in the store, in the confirmation screen and at purchase by the end of the day today. We worked closely with Microsoft on prepping this, but with a sale including 1,100 pieces of content, there's no precedent and no way to test everything, but we'll work to course correct as quickly as possible.
As of right now, roughly 40% of all tracks should be listed, priced and charging as intended. If you stumble across an offer that is not yet correct, sit tight and it should be updated quickly. Don't rush in and purchase blindly unless you want to have to contact Microsoft to sort out pricing and refund details after the fact. We'll see if we can get an escalation path for refunds for affected users, but in the meantime the usual support channels seem to be doing the trick.
Thanks to all for your patience!
Thanks for the update. Given that Harmonix is advising fans to wait, I assume they'll be giving us time to peruse the offerings before the expiration (if any) of the sale prices.
As an aside, I just wish this sale applied to the incredibly funny/inappropriate auto-tuned Bed Intruder song on RBN. I totally want to pick that up, but I'll feel really dirty paying $2 for it!
