I'm still bummed that there's no Vita version of Blitz... seems like a great portable game with some headphones.

*sigh*

Hmm I picked up a Rock Band 3 bundle (with a pro guitar) recently... I might have to go scrounge the store to see what interesting songs I can look like a fool while playing! Blitz doesn't really look like it has any interesting songs though.

Wow, it seems like Blitz just came out, but here's another DLC announcement already. Up next week, a 4-pack of Linkin Park. I have no strong feelings about LP one way or another, but I know a lot of forum folks were happy to see Breaking the Habit.

DLC Week of 9/4 - Linkin Park 4 Pack!

Hey gang,

Since their formation in the mid-90s, Linkin Park have toyed with conventional sounds of electronica, hip-hop, and rock to create a remarkable and unmistakable sound. On September 4th, the number of playable Linkin Park tracks in Rock Band Music Library increases by four with the release of “Linkin Park Pack 02”!

Leading the pack is “Breaking the Habit,” the fifth and final single from the band’s second album, 2003’s critically and commercially successful Meteora. “Shadow of the Day,” the chart-topping single from their third album, 2007’s Minutes to Midnight, is also included in the pack. Also making the cut is “New Divide,” the highly successful single written exclusively for the 2009 film, Transformers: Revenge of the Fallen. Finally, “Burn It Down,” from the band’s latest album, Living Things, closes out this pack of four hits.

Fans can pick up these four tracks, as singles or as part of the pack, from the Rock Band Music Store starting on September 4th!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (September 4th, 2012):

• Linkin Park – “Breaking the Habit” O
• Linkin Park – “Shadow of the Day” O

• Linkin Park – “Burn It Down” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system September 12th)

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; tracks marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Up next week, Matchbox Twenty appears in Rock Band for the first time with a 3-pack. Not one of my top bands, but I'm buying the pack when I get some points.

Hey gang,

Hot on the heels of releasing their latest record, North, rockers Matchbox Twenty will make their debut in Rock Band on September 11th!

Finally, Matchbox Twenty’s latest single, “She’s So Mean,” from their latest album North, rounds out the pack!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (September 11th, 2012):

Thanks for the update, Pheran!

Have you able to break away from Sleeping Dogs for any Rock Band lately?

We played a bunch of Blitz songs that day after that release, but I haven't played since then. Too much Sleeping Dogs interspersed with occasional bouts of Crysis, plus I've been playing co-op Borderlands on the 360.

Next week we are headed back to the 90s for two Smash Mouth tracks (though one is a cover of a 1975 track from War). Plus, there's a brand new Offspring track that I'd never heard before, but I'm really liking it.

DLC Week of 9/18 - Singles from The Offspring and Smash Mouth!

Hey gang,

New music from California punk band The Offspring is coming to the Rock Band Music Store on September 18th with the release of the title track from their latest record, Days Go By! The third track from the band’s ninth studio album, “Days Go By” has reached number 2 on Billboard’s US Hot Mainstream Rock Tracks chart!

Two Smash Mouth songs will also be available: their popular cover of War’s “Why Can’t We Be Friends” from 1997’s Fush Yu Man and “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby” from 1999’s Astro Lounge!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (September 18th, 2012):

• The Offspring – “Days Go By” O X
• Smash Mouth – “Why Can’t We Be Friends” O
• Smash Mouth – “Can’t Get Enough of You Baby” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system September 26th)

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; tracks marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points ™, 200 Wii Points&#8482 per song
$0.99 USD (80 Microsoft Points™, 100 Wii Points&#8482, £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade

I'm rather tempted to pick up some of these songs too. As another tip, I always use game point cards that I either buy on sale or get from Target. Game cards aren't taxed and they're still subject to Target's 5% discounts, which is odd as gift cards are usually never discounted.

Anyone know when this goes live? I can't find the discounted prices anywhere. They were full price yesterday on my xbox, and are still full price right now on xboxlive.com.

The sale is supposed to go live sometime today, so don't worry, it's still coming.

Ok, thanks. Just thought I'd seen them on xboxlive today.

I was thinking the discounts might only show up in the Rock Band Store. Any thoughts about that?

I think they will show up everywhere. Latest word is that Xbox Live is supposed to update by noon EDT today, so it should happen in the next hour.

FYI Harmonix posted this around 1 PM:

Just wanted to pop in to let folks know that we're working with Microsoft to iron out the store listings for everything. As mentioned in the initial announcement post, it's not an instantaneous price change and the roll out will happen on 360 over several hours. Those changes are still taking affect and, it turns out, 1,100 songs is a boat load of content and it takes longer than expected to update. So keep posted and everything should be corrected shortly!

The 50% discounts are showing up on xboxlive, but only for some songs.

Example - I'm seeing 80 points for Journey's "Don't Stop Believing," Janis Joplin's "Piece of My Heart", and Jimi Hendrix Experience "Purple Haze," but not for Bangles "Walk Like an Egyptian" or any Lady Gaga songs from her original album, despite all being listed on the PDF linked above.

Guess it's being rolled out very slowly.

Yeah, obviously it's not going quite as planned since Microsoft has never tried to put 1000+ things on sale before. A lot of people are reporting that the sale prices are in effect even though the original price is still displayed, but you have to be brave enough to take a chance and see how many points get deducted. I'll just wait a little longer and hopefully it will be sorted out soon.

I'm not allowed to link it here, but buy.com has 25% off MS points via Ebay right now! It's not clear how long the DLC sale is supposed to last (Harmonix won't say - there's speculation it could be permanent), but that's an excellent deal on MS points whether they make it in time or not.

Sadly, the MS points deal is dead already (but those never last long). Here's an update from Harmonix on the Xbox issues:

Just wanted to update that we had a meeting about this first thing this morning. We're still waiting on additional info from Microsoft, but we've confirmed that prices are still updating on a rolling schedule, just slower than expected. The hope is to now have all content priced correctly in the store, in the confirmation screen and at purchase by the end of the day today. We worked closely with Microsoft on prepping this, but with a sale including 1,100 pieces of content, there's no precedent and no way to test everything, but we'll work to course correct as quickly as possible.

As of right now, roughly 40% of all tracks should be listed, priced and charging as intended. If you stumble across an offer that is not yet correct, sit tight and it should be updated quickly. Don't rush in and purchase blindly unless you want to have to contact Microsoft to sort out pricing and refund details after the fact. We'll see if we can get an escalation path for refunds for affected users, but in the meantime the usual support channels seem to be doing the trick.

Thanks to all for your patience!

Thanks for the update. Given that Harmonix is advising fans to wait, I assume they'll be giving us time to peruse the offerings before the expiration (if any) of the sale prices.

As an aside, I just wish this sale applied to the incredibly funny/inappropriate auto-tuned Bed Intruder song on RBN. I totally want to pick that up, but I'll feel really dirty paying $2 for it!

There are some pretty funny songs on RBN. I have "If Trucks Drank Beer", "Pray for You" and of course some Jonathan Coulton stuff, but I haven't gotten Bed Intruder.

Yeah, I saw the Buy.com deal, but since I wasn't sure about timing, I didn't bite on it. Also, it's normally always dead by the time I get to it, so I didn't even try. Although, I think it was still active when I saw it around 11 CST.

I'll stick with my easy 5% off at Target. Not as good of a deal, but a lot less hassle and no delay!

Ooh, that also reminds me, Gay Bar by Electric Six will be on sale. That's another funny song that I could never convince myself to pay full price for.

Well, I picked up a few classics:

Bangles - Walk Like an Egyptian
Blondie - Call Me

The funny thing is that just about every song I wanted on that sale list I already had. If only they'd put the RB3 tracks on sale. Maybe next year...
