Next week's DLC is a little unusual - Harmonix is re-releasing a number of Green Day tracks that were previously available as part of the Green Day: Rock Band export, plus the new Green Day single "Oh Love". I find this mildly annoying since I've already exported Green Day, so that's effectively one new track for me. But, I have plenty of back catalog to look at because of the huge pre-RB3 DLC sale that's going on, so I can't complain too much.

DLC Week of 9/25 - Green Day 5 Pack! "Oh Love" Plus 4 GDRB Classics as DLC!

Hey gang,

On September 25th, multi-platinum selling and Grammy Award winning group Green Day will release ¡Uno! , the first of the ¡Uno! ¡Dos! ¡Tré! studio album trilogy. On that same day “Oh Love,” the first single from ¡Uno! – the band’s ninth studio album – will be available on the Rock Band Music Store!

Fans can also pick up four other Green Day hits which were previously only available as part of Green Day Rock Band: “Brain Stew/Jaded,” “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life),” “Warning,” and “Minority”.

These four songs, along with “Oh Love,” will be available as part of “Green Day Pack 03” or can be purchased individually from the Rock Band Music Store!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (September 25th, 2012):

• Green Day – “Brain Stew/Jaded”
• Green Day – “Good Riddance (Time of Your Life)”

• Green Day – “Minority”
• Green Day – “Oh Love” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system October 10th)

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards.

Gah, this sale is insane. I finally got my points (25% off!) but it's taking forever to go through the catalog and I already bought 37 songs. Yeesh!

Are you doing it through the xbox.com website? I imagine that would be faster and it will automatically queue it to your main 360.

No, I'm doing it through RB3, but that has nothing to do with it taking forever - it's just taking forever for me to sample the songs I'm not familiar with.

Do what I do - browse on xbox.com, sample on Amazon! The RB3 store is painfully slow.

I find the RB3 store much more convenient. But, as I was trying to say, it had nothing to do with the speed of the technology I was using, it was simply time listening to music.

Stupid me, I've had the OP updated since Friday but then got distracted and forgot to bump with the announcement. Up on Tuesday is a 3-pack of the band 311. Apparently this bad was popular in the 90s, but somehow I've never heard of them.

DLC Week of 10/2 - 3 Pack from 311! Down, Beautiful Disaster and Amber!

Hey gang,

Known for their tight sound that seamlessly blends rock, funk, rap, reggae, and more, 311 has long been requested by Rock Band fans. On October 2nd, the band makes its debut on the Rock Band Music Store with three of its biggest tracks!

The chart-topping track that pushed the band in to the mainstream spotlight in the mid-90s, “Down,” kicks off the three-pack. “Beautiful Disaster” from 1997’s Transistor and the reggae-tinged “Amber” from 2002’s From Chaos flesh out “311 Pack 01”! All of the tracks can be purchased as part of the pack, or individually; an optional Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrade will also be available for “Down.”

Additionally, during the week of the release of “311 Pack 01,” Rock Band Blitz players will earn double Coins any time they play any of the three tracks from the pack!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (October 2nd, 2012):

• 311 – “Down” X
• 311 – “Beautiful Disaster” O
• 311 – “Amber” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system October 3rd)

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; tracks marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Heading back to the 80s next week with tracks from Billy Squier and A Flock of Seagulls! One of my childhood memories was one of our local radio DJs locking himself in the studio and playing "Everybody Wants You" over and over again until they finally threw him out of there. More than likely it was a faked publicity stunt for the radio station, but it was still funny.

DLC Week of 10/9 - Singles from Billy Squier & A Flock of Seagulls!

Hey gang,

In 1982, English New Wave band A Flock of Seagulls found worldwide success with their self-titled debut record. “I Ran (So Far Away),” a single from that album, became one of the band’s biggest hits, making its way to the Billboard Hot 100 and charts around the globe!

Rocker Billy Squier had a string of hits during the 80s, as well, two of which will make their way to the Rock Band Music Store next week: “The Stroke,” the debut single from 1981’s Don’t Say No and the opening track from 1982’s Emotions in Motion, “Everybody Wants You,” which held on to the top spot of Billboard’s Hot Mainstream Rock tracks for six weeks straight!

All three tracks will be available as singles on the Rock Band Music Store; a Pro Guitar and Pro Bass Upgrade will be available for “The Stroke.”

Additionally, Rock Band Blitz players who play any of these tracks will earn double coins for each play, as well as double coins for each time they play Billy Squier’s “Christmas Is the Time to Say I Love You,” which was previously released on the Rock Band Music Store!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (October 9th, 2012):

• A Flock of Seagulls – “I Ran (So Far Away)” O
• Billy Squier – “The Stroke” X O
• Billy Squier – “Everybody Wants You” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system October 10th)

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; tracks marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points ™, 200 Wii Points&#8482 per song
$0.99 USD (80 Microsoft Points™, 100 Wii Points&#8482, £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade

Well, I have really mixed feelings about next week. Come on Eileen is such a great 80s song, but we're getting a cover. It's not a bad cover at all, but it's just not the original either. Undecided about that one, but I'll probably get the Sheryl Crow track at least.

DLC Week of 10/16 - Singles from Sheryl Crow, Save Ferris and Three Days Grace!

Hey gang,

On October 16th, Save Ferris’ popular ska-infused cover of the 80s hit “Come on Eileen” hits the Rock Band Music Store, complete with an optional Pro Guitar and Pro Bass Upgrade. Sheryl Crow’s breakthrough hit “All I Wanna Do,” from the singer-songwriters 1993 debut Tuesday Night Music Club joins the Music Store, as well, along with Three Days Grace’s “Animal I Have Become,” from 2006’s One-X.

Additionally, Rock Band Blitz players who play any of these tracks will earn double coins for each play, as well as double coins for each time they play any Three Days Grace track!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (October 16th, 2012):

• Save Ferris – “Come on Eileen” O X
• Sheryl Crow – “All I Wanna Do” O
• Three Days Grace – “Animal I Have Become” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system October 17th)

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; tracks marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

Another mixed feelings week for me - Chicago is definitely a classic band, but I would have made some different song choices (Saturday in the Park for example). Plus, I like "If You Leave Me Now", but I'm not too sure it's actually a song I want to play in Rock Band - it's straying a little too far into the "easy listening" category for that.

DLC Week of 10/23 - Chicago Pack! 3 Vintage 70's Classics!

Hey gang,

Look at their career of Billboard chart topping hit singles and albums and you’ll see that Chicago is easily one of the most successful American rock acts of all time. On October 23rd, three of their hit singles come to the Rock Band Music Store!

Written as part of a seven part suite, Chicago’s “Make Me Smile” – from the band’s second studio record, 1970’s Chicago II – was released as a single that topped the Billboard charts. “Feelin’ Stronger Every Day,” off of 1973’s Chicago IV found equal success on the charts, only a few years later. The ballad “If You Leave Me Now,” off of 1976’s Chicago X, rounds out the pack.

As a bonus, Rock Band Blitz players who play any of these tracks will earn double coins for each play!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (October 23rd, 2012):

• Chicago – “Make Me Smile” O X
• Chicago – “Feelin’ Stronger Every Day” O
• Chicago – “If You Leave Me Now” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system October 24th)

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; tracks marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points ™, 200 Wii Points™) per song
$0.99 USD (80 Microsoft Points™, 100 Wii Points™), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade

Next week a Sublime 3-pack hits Rock Band with a couple of their biggest hits - Santeria and What I Got. Not bad, but I'm putting this in my "might buy later" pile.

DLC Week of 10/30 - Sublime 3 Pack! What I Got, Wrong Way and Santeria!

Hey gang,

With a distinctive sound that’s as much influenced by punk rock as by ska and reggae, Sublime rose to fame in the mid-‘90s with a string of hits off its self-titled third album. Often requested by Rock Band fans, Sublime will make its debut on the Music Store on October 30th!

Three tracks will be available as part of “Sublime Pack 01.” First up is “What I Got,” the hit single that helped push the band into the spotlight in 1996. The track is joined by “Santeria” and “Wrong Way,” which spent 26 weeks on the Billboard’s Alternative Songs charts!

As a bonus, Rock Band Blitz players who play any of these Sublime tracks will earn double coins for each play!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (October 30th, 2012):

• Sublime – “What I Got” O
• Sublime – “Wrong Way” O
• Sublime – “Santeria” O X

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system October 31st)

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; tracks marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$5.49, £2.49 UK, €3.99 EU (440 Microsoft Points, 550 Wii Points&#8482 for the “Sublime Pack 01”

Another new artist for Rock Band next week - Dave Matthews Band with a 3-pack. Ants Marching is pretty well known, but people are wondering where the heck "Crash" is? Anyway, another band for my "maybe later" pile.

An interesting side note here is that DMB was one of the featured bands in the failed game "Power Gig". Hopefully this means that whatever exclusivity agreements existed for Power Gig are now gone, because Eric Clapton was another featured Power Gig artist, and he would be a huge win for Rock Band.

DLC Week of 11/6: Dave Matthews Band Makes Their Debut with a Three-Pack!

Dave Matthews Band first came on to the music scene in the ‘90s, with a blend of pop, rock, jazz, and world music that captivated fans. With eight studio albums, and countless awards and nominations under their belt, Dave Matthews Band now comes to Rock Band on November 6th!

The three-pack kicks off with “Mercy,” the first single off of the band’s latest album, Away from the World. A fan favorite and the second single off of 1994’s Under the Table and Dreaming, “Ants Marching” will also be included. Finally, the Grammy Award-winning “So Much to Say,” a single from 1996’s Crash, rounds out the pack. All three tracks will be available as singles or as part of “Dave Matthews Band Pack 01.”

As a bonus, Rock Band Blitz players who play any of these Dave Matthews Band tracks will earn double coins for each play!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii and PlayStation®3 system (November 6th, 2012):

Dave Matthews Band – “Mercy” O
Dave Matthews Band – “Ants Marching” O X
Dave Matthews Band – “So Much to Say” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system November 7th)

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; tracks marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price: $5.49, £2.49 UK, €3.99 EU (440 Microsoft Points, 550 Wii Points™) for the “Dave Matthews Band Pack 01”
$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points ™, 200 Wii Points™) per song
$0.99 USD (80 Microsoft Points™, 100 Wii Points™), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade

DMB is actually a pretty good match for Rock Band. Lots of fun songs to jam on.

Ants Marching is one of my least favorite of all of their songs though...

Didn't know they had a new album, so I just had a listen to Mercy and the whole album. Pretty good, pretty much old school DMB...but Mercy is way too slow for Rock Band, unfortunately.

In honor of the 5th anniversary of Rock Band (released 11/20/2007), HMX is releasing 6 singles spanning 6 decades of music. I'm blown away, because this list has something for everyone. There's the fantastic 70s instrumental "Jessica" (which appeared in Guitar Hero 2), the ever-popular "I Melt With You" (an 80s hit later used in Burger King and Hershey's commercials), Nine Inch Nails, Dragonforce, you name it! And if all that wasn't enough, RBN is bringing us John Parr's hit, "St Elmo's Fire". Amazing week!

Was Jessie's Girl not in any other Rock Band game? Man, I'd jump on it just for that, but I only have 550 points...shoot! Is there an easy way to add only a few points? I'm not really interested in investing a bunch more in RB, unfortunately...

I think the minimum you can add is 400 points ($5) using Xbox.com. And yes, Jessie's Girl is only included with Blitz.

Additionally, the controller-based rhythm-action of Rock Band Blitz is now on sale for Xbox LIVE Arcade for a limited time. I think the minimum you can add is 400 points ($5) using Xbox.com. And yes, Jessie's Girl is only included with Blitz.

Thanks - I can probably spare $5 for 25 new songs...and yup, I'm in. Bought Blitz, thanks again for the tip.

As for Call Me Maybe...you know, that's a fun song to listen to, but I don't think the instrumental parts will be very interesting...

Kind of like my failed experiment in Lady Gaga RB songs...

The Black Crowes are up next week with a 3-pack. Not bad, I'll at least get She Talks to Angels.

DLC Week of 12/4 - The Black Crowes 3 Pack!

Hey gang,

The Black Crowes rocketed to success in the ‘90s with a blues-rock sound and throwback vibe that was a revival of some of the biggest rock acts of the’ 70s. The final single off of The Southern Harmony and Musical Companion, “Sometimes Salvation” rounds out the three-pack.

As a bonus, Rock Band Blitz players who play any songs by The Black Crowes will earn double coins for each play!

Since we are coming into December and the holidays, I'd like to point out two brand new holiday songs available on RBN:

Distant Autumn - The Christmas Song (Live)
Richard Campbell - Rock the Halls

Back catalog holiday songs:

Cate Sparks - Angels We Have Heard On High
John Lennon - Happy Xmas (War is Over)
Jonathan Coulton - Chiron Beta Prime
Richard Campbell - A Christmas Rock Medley

There's also the Rockin' the Holidays 2008 3-pack, but I don't care too much for the songs in it (never bought it).

Next week the Toadies make their debut in Rock Band. For Guitar Hero 2 players, Possum Kingdom is a big nostalgia track - I'll probably get it for that reason.

On December 11th, Toadies’ “Possum Kingdom” will come to the Rock Band Music Store. Off of the band’s debut record, 1994’s Rubberneck, the track was a huge hit for Toadies, peaking at number 4 on the Billboard Modern Rock Track charts! The single is joined by two other tracks, “Away” and “Tyler,” also from the Platinum-selling Rubberneck. The three tracks will be available as single downloads or as part of “Toadies Pack 01.”

As a bonus for Rock Band Blitz players, playing any Toadies track will earn them double coins for each play!
