Just found this thread - don't know why it took me so long. Anyway, recently got Take on Me, one of my favorite songs of all time, and while it was good to play along with, it's actually better to just listen to! Funny how that works.

Gonna score me some Poison and Def Leppard soon.

Any thoughts on how long Harmonix can keep putting out new songs? I can't imagine they're selling that well anymore. I admire their devotion, though.

I dunno, I have been worried about the decline of the rhythm gaming market, but so far they are still cranking out DLC. They claim that the DLC is profitable and that they have plans to do more with the game, here's hoping that's true. So maybe there will be a Rock Band 4 in 2012? It's a shame that the genre kind of fell apart just as they got the pro guitar capability in place. The whole Gamasutra interview referenced by that previous link is pretty interesting.

I've been really happy with the DLC lately, I bought the yes pack, a couple of the new fallout boy songs, I'm planning to get a bunch of those new RHCP songs and the incubus songs too.

Honestly what I think harmonix doesn't really need a RB4, they should just focus on releasing a lot of DLC and maybe come out with some larger packs like 20-30 songs for like 20$ or something. I would like to see a lot more albums too, it's kind of annoying when they release like 3 songs from an album I really like and the rest of the songs are left out.

Cheap Trick's "Hello There" provided the opening video for Rock Band 2, but we haven't seen anything from them since, until now! I'm very happy to see this Cheap Trick 3-pack, because it includes Surrender, the very first track on Guitar Hero 2, which is also the very first song I ever played on plastic guitar. They also threw in a popular single from EMF to round out the week.

Ironically, I got totally sick of "Hello There" because of RB2's intro and couldn't stand playing it (I'd actually mute the game at the menu screen), but Surrender and I Want You to Want Me are great songs!

They replayed the Cheap Trick episode of Austin City Limits a couple of weeks ago, and it made me nostalgic for Surrender in Guitar Hero 2. I hope the drum score is as fun to play in game as it looked live.

RB3 has Before I Forget on disc, and Slipknot Pack 01 was Duality, Sulfur and Psychosocial. So yes, you're crazy.

That now that I've mentioned that, it looks like Harmonix is a little confused too since this should be Slipknot Pack 02, not 01.

In honor of getting 2 million likes on Facebook, HMX has announced 4 upcoming artists that will have Rock Band DLC:

In the coming weeks and months, you can look forward to seeing DLC packs from the following artists:

Coldplay, a highly requested community favorite, will join RB for the very first time!
Breaking Benjamin will add more tracks, including a few key requests after their last pack
Stevie Wonder, another newcomer to RB, will delight keyboardists and dazzle the rest of the band with funk

Rounding out the 4 artist announcement, there's also a single coming from:

Dream Theater, one of the most challenging bands featured in RB, and a favorite among the hardcore

Sounds great, too bad Dream Theater is only a single!

Next week, a 3-pack of Breaking Benjamin and a Papa Roach single. I rather like all of this (really enjoyed the first BB pack), so I might get the whole week.

Rockers Breaking Benjamin are kicking off November’s Rock Band downloadable content offerings with “Breaking Benjamin Pack 02,” featuring some of the band’s biggest hits. “Sooner or Later,” from Breaking Benjamin’s second album, 2004’s We Are Not Alone, leads the pack. It’s rounded out with two tracks from 2006's Phobia, “Until the End” and the chart-topping single, “Breath.”

A single track from Papa Roach, “Forever,” is also hitting the Rock Band Music Store next week. The hit single comes off the band’s fifth album, 2006’s The Paramour Sessions. The album was recorded at California’s famous and allegedly haunted “Paramour Mansion”; Papa Roach vocalist Jacoby Shaddix even says that some lyrics to “Forever” were inspired by a resident spirit!

After being exclusive to disc for about 9 months (HMX has said this long period was due to licensing problems), the Country Track Pack 2 is being released as DLC. However, there is a crucial difference between this DLC and the original CTP2 export. Because of the long delay, HMX decided to chart keys on these songs (19 of 21 have them), making them into "RB3 Versions". They explain this here. While it's nice to have upgraded songs, it's probably annoying for anyone who bought the track pack on disc. This DLC has been split into several packs, or you can buy the entire thing for $20, which is a very good price/song (if you like country).

DLC Week of 11/8 - 21 Track Country Pack! Johnny Cash, Shania Twain, Keith Urban!

Hey gang,

Country music fans have plenty to celebrate, as songs from the retail-only Rock Band Country Track Pack 2 come to the Rock Band Music Store on November 8th!

Broken up into four jam-packed collections, there’s something for everyone, whether you’re a fan of modern country greats or legendary performers of the past. From the award-winning duo Sugarland’s Billboard hit “Settlin’” to Merle Haggard’s 1968 hit, “Mama Tried,” these are tunes country fans won’t want to miss. Next we get another artist promised in the Facebook pre-announcement, the legendary Stevie Wonder. I'm not a huge fan but I will still probably pick up Superstition and Sir Duke - Stevie is just too big to ignore!

DLC Week of 11/15 - Stevie Wonder 5 Pack! Superstition, Higher Ground & More!

Hey gang,

Renowned Motown artist Stevie Wonder makes his long-awaited debut in Rock Band on November 15th! Wonder, whose musical career has spanned a remarkable 49 years, is the recipient of multiple industry awards and honors, including 22 Grammy Awards. “Stevie Wonder Pack 01” brings some of this legend’s biggest hits to the Rock Band Music Store next week!

The pack is kicked off with “Superstition,” a now legendary track written by a then 22-year-old Wonder, off of the 1972 album, Talking Book. The funky, Moog synth bass of “Higher Ground” and the grooves of “Living for the City,” both off of 1973’s Innervisions, also make the cut. “Sir Duke,” a Billboard hit written as a tribute to jazz great Duke Ellington, and “I Wish” – both from the double platinum and critically acclaimed album, Songs in the Key of Life – round out the pack.

All tracks feature support for keyboards, as well as harmonies and pro-drums when played with Rock Band 3. Additionally, “Sir Duke” and “I Wish” are both eligible for a Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrade.

Available on Xbox 360, Wii™ and PlayStation®3 system (November 15th, 2011):

• Stevie Wonder – “Superstition”
• Stevie Wonder – “Higher Ground”
• Stevie Wonder – “Living For the City”

Another early DLC announcement for Thanksgiving. Up next week, a pack for Roadrunner including a new Dream Theater single. Plus, an 80s classic "We Built This City" by Starship. Sure, it may be cheesy but I'm jumping on it anyway.

DLC Week of 11/29 - Roadrunner Pack 02 & Starship, plus Jane's Addiction Pro Upgrade!

Hey gang,

Fans of blistering (prog) metal tracks and classic rock anthems are going to be in for a treat!

First up, Dream Theater make their long-awaited return with a track off of their 11th studio album, A Dramatic Turn of Events, released earlier this year. “On the Backs of Angels” is an epic track, nearing almost nine minutes, with multiple time changes woven throughout this intricate metal composition. Fans looking to go a bit deeper can upgrade “On the Backs of Angels” to Pro Guitar and Pro Bass for $0.99.

Opeth’s “Ghost of Perdition” from their critically acclaimed 2005 album, Ghost Reveries, will also be available in the pack.

The three-song pack is rounded out by Trivium’s “In Waves” from the band’s latest record of the same name.

Starship’s ‘80s classic, “We Built This City,” will also be available on the Rock Band Music Store. Off of 1985’s Knee Deep in the Hoopla, the track – with its memorable, sing-along chorus – reached #1 on the Billboard Hot 100.

A Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrade will also be available for Jane’s Addiction’s “Jane Says,” a track from the band’s first studio album, 1998’s Nothing’s Shocking.

Available on Xbox 360, Wii™ and PlayStation®3 system (November 29th, 2011):

• Dream Theater – “On the Backs of Angels” X
• Opeth – “Ghost of Perdition”
• Trivium – “In Waves”
• Starship – “We Built This City”

Pro Guitar/Bass Upgrades for Legacy Songs

· Jane’s Addiction – “Jane Says”

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system November 30th)

The Dream Theater, Opeth, and Trivium tracks will be available as “Roadrunner Records Pack 02,” and all songs will also be available for purchase individually on Xbox 360, PlayStation®3 system and Wii™. Tracks marked with “X” will include Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

Price:

$5.49, £2.49 UK, €3.99 EU (440 Microsoft Points, 550 Wii Points™) for “Roadrunner Records Pack 02”
$1.99 USD, £.99 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points) per song
$2.00 USD (200 Wii Points™) per song
$0.99 USD (100 Wii Points™/80 Microsoft Points), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade
