This is a meh week for me - I'm disappointed that the Midnight Oil track isn't Beds are Burning, but I'm hoping that shows up in the Blitz setlist, which I've just added in the Special Announcements portion of the OP.

DLC Week of 6/5 - Singles from Florence + the Machine, Cracker and Midnight Oil!

Hey gang,

Harmonix kicks off June’s Rock Band Music Store releases with a selection of three singles that assure there’s something for everyone when the tracks drop on June 5th.

“Teen Angst (What the World Needs Now)” from alternative rock group Cracker kicks things off. The single comes from the band’s 1992 self-titled debut record, and peaked that year at number one on the Billboard’s U.S. Modern Rock Tracks.

When Florence + the Machine released their debut record, Lungs, in 2008, it quickly became one of the year’s most popular releases. “Dog Days Are Over,” the multi-platinum second single from Lungs, hits the Rock Band Music Store on June 5th.

Finally, Australia’s Midnight Oil makes their debut in Rock Band with ”Power and the Passion” the first single from the critically acclaimed 1982 record, 10, 9, 8, 7, 6, 5, 4, 3, 2, 1.

News flash: John Parr is coming to Rock Band. It's not yet certain that this is next week's DLC, but it seems very likely. I'm definitely getting St. Elmo's Fire, but I can do without the Tim Tebow version.

EDIT: Oops, this is coming to RBN, so it's not next week's official DLC. Even better!

Unfortunately there was a last-minute snafu with the DLC licensing this week, and Harmonix had to pull 2 of the 3 songs that were supposed to come out, so we are only left with one single, Drive by Incubus.

On the plus side, they have announced three bands coming as DLC this summer - Queens of the Stone Age, Daughtry and the B-52s. That means we're pretty much guaranteed to get Love Shack this time around (Roam and Rock Lobster are already in the game). Plus we still have the 4 John Parr tracks to look forward to on RBN.

DLC Week of 6/12 - Incubus' hit single Drive! Plus an early summer DLC tease!

Hey gang,

California-based rock group Incubus had been making music for nearly ten years before it hit the mainstream with their chart-topping third album, 1999’s Make Yourself. “Drive,” the third single from the record and the track that earned the band Billboard’s Modern Rock Single of the Year award, comes to the Rock Band Music Store on June 12th!

The addition of “Drive” grows the library of Incubus tracks playable in Rock Band, which includes “Adolescents,” “Dig,” and “Wish You Were Here,” all available now on the Rock Band Music Store.

Hey gang,

The first country artist to win American Idol, Carrie Underwood has sold more than 14 million albums worldwide, earned five Grammys, and has topped the charts with 14 number one singles. On June 26th, one of the biggest names in modern country music returns to Rock Band with “Carrie Underwood Pack 01”!

“Before He Cheats,” the chart-topping single from Underwood’s 2005 album, Some Hearts, opens the pack. The highly successful crossover single garnered Underwood a number of awards, including two Grammy’s for “Best Female Country Vocal Performance” and “Country Song of the Year.”

The second song in the pack is “Cowboy Casanova” from her third studio album, 2009’s Play On. The track was another hit for Underwood, certified Platinum and reaching number one on Billboard’s Country Songs charts.

“Good Girl,” the lead single from Underwood’s most recent record, Blown Away, rounds out of the pack. This high-energy track, with its infectious sing-along chorus, swept the charts when it was released earlier this year, rocketing to the top of Billboard’s Country Songs charts. The track also netted Underwood the prestigious “Video of the Year” award at the CMT Music Awards earlier this month.

On July 17th, Harmonix continues to diversify its catalog of playable music for Rock Band 3 and the upcoming Rock Band Blitz with three new singles: “Love Shack” by The B-52’s, Staind’s “Not Again,” and indie rockers Young the Giants’ “My Body.”

“Love Shack” comes from The B-52’s 1989 record Cosmic Thing, and was the band’s biggest hit, the first to reach the Billboard Top 40 charts. Reptilia was an awesome rock band song, but interestingly the guitar hero version was somehow more satisfying.

I remember hating Reptilia, but it might have just been because I didn't know how to alt-strum back then.

Yeah, it's pretty sad - getting the drums has been hard for a long time. And given that the drums take a beating (mine are wrapped with duct tape to hold them together), it's going to be tough to keep the "band" going indefinitely.

You can either pay too much for a Rock Band 1 set, or pay way, way too much for a Rock Band 3 set: http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_sb_no...ock+band+drums

Amazon does allow you to order the RB3 set for $130, which was the original price, but it's a 1-2 month wait.

You can buy them directly from Mad Catz's GameShark store, but I agree that they are rather pricey. Sometimes you can get lucky and find clearance deals at Gamestop or other stores, or try checking Craigslist/Ebay for used gear.

See this thread on the RB forums for more info on getting hardware.

Is the music store on the fritz too? Can't seem to get into it on my 360.

I haven't heard anything, and the forums were fixed a long time ago. Occasionally I have to go into the store a couple of times to get it to connect, though I haven't had that issue for quite a while.

Nice to see the Black Keys, but damn Lonely Boy is a bitch on the drums. Their drummer even said in an interview that his arms were like rubber after recording it. Anyways, the video might be "dumb" but I find it interesting that the guy listened to it once during a tryout for the video and ended up being the dancer for it. Was suppose to be a collage of different people doing their own interpretation.

OK, Blitz week is finally coming! There is no regular DLC next week due to the release of Rock Band Blitz, which is effectively a 25-pack of songs for only $15 on Xbox and PS3 (plus you get the game itself). Due to marketplace update times, this will release Tuesday on PS3 and Wednesday on Xbox. Blitz is not available for Wii, but Harmonix is releasing 3 of the Blitz songs as Wii DLC next week. Presumably they will slowly release more alongside the regular DLC, but that's speculation on my part. See the OP for YouTube links for every song. You can download a Blitz demo containing 3 songs, though those songs will not be playable in RB3 unless you purchase the full game.

DLC Week of 8/28 - ROCK BAND BLITZ IS COMING OUT!

After several grueling months of waiting, Rock Band Blitz is finally coming out next week! Rock Band Blitz hits PlayStation Network on August 28th and Xbox LIVE Arcade on August 29th. These tracks will not only be playable as part of Rock Band Blitz’s frantic, controller-based arcade experience, but in Rock Band 3 with full instrument support at no additional charge!

In addition to these great tracks, Rock Band Blitz is also compatible with most your existing Rock Band music library, including content from the Rock Band Music Store, as well as tracks exported from Rock Band, Rock Band 2, and more!

There will also be a demo version available at launch for those of you that want to take the game around for a test drive before committing to a purchase. The trial version will include "One Week", "These Days" and "Death on Two Legs" and will have limited access to power ups and additional features.
