Sadly, next week is disappointing since it's nothing but Blitz rehashes. But, I guess it could be useful if you wanted these particular singles and didn't get Blitz, or if you have a Wii (since it didn't get Blitz).

I'm really happy about next week's pack - Rick Springfield! Jessie's Girl is a Blitz repeat (though the pro upgrade is new), but we also get two new songs. I will definitely be buying this 80s goodness.

DLC Week of 1/15 - Rick Springfield 3 Pack! Including 2 Pro Guitar Upgrades!

Hey gang,

On January 15th, three tracks from singer-songwriter Rick Springfield are headed to the Rock Band Music Store as part of “Rick Springfield Pack 01”!

The pack will include “Jessie’s Girl,” Springfield’s catchy single that went on to become one of the most memory tracks from ‘80s. This Grammy Award-winning song was originally available as part of the soundtrack for Rock Band Blitz, and will now be available as a single track download from the Music Store, or as part of “Rick Springfield Pack 01”.

This pack will also include Rick Springfield’s cover of Sammy Hagar’s “I’ve Done Everything for You,” as well as “Don’t Talk to Strangers,” the Grammy-nominated single off of Springfield’s 1982 record, Success Hasn’t Spoiled Me Yet.

Additionally, Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades will be available for both “Jessie’s Girl” and “I’ve Done Everything For You”!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation®3 system (January 15th, 2013):

• Rick Springfield – “Jessie’s Girl” O X

Oops, totally forgot to post the big Rock Band Network news for this week. Besides the official Rick Springfield goodness, you can get Great Balls of Fire by Jerry Lee Lewis on RBN! One caveat about this DLC - because the song is so old, separate master stems were not available. What this means is that when you miss a note while playing, you might not hear the miss correctly because multiple different instruments were mixed together in the recording. Still, I think it's fantastic to have this classic song available and charted. I'm sure this will be ported over to PS3 soon.

As much as I love Jessie's Girl, I was until this very moment convinced that Rick Springfield was a one-hit wonder, and definitely had never heard either of those two other songs before.

Sorry to say, but ignorance was bliss.

I'll just keep on rocking to Jessie's Girl, which I got thanks to that awesome Blitz deal you listed before.

Really? I can probably list a half-dozen Rick Springfield hits right off the top of my head, and I'm sure there are more than that. You darn youngins.

PS: And I can't believe you don't like "I've Done Everything for You".

OK, I haven't had this big of a "Hell yes!" reaction to Rock Band DLC for a while. Up next week, a 6-pack of Aerosmith! Rock Band hasn't seen any Aerosmith since the cover of Train Kept a Rollin' that's on the first Rock Band disc. This was probably because of an exclusivity agreement with Guitar Hero: Aerosmith, but apparently that is expired or defunct. So we get 4 classic Aerosmith hits plus 2 tracks off their new album "Songs from Another Dimension".

DLC Week of 1/29 - Aerosmith 6 Pack! Plus 2 Pro Guitar Upgrades!

Hey gang,

Emerging as one of the biggest rock bands of 70s, Boston-based Aerosmith made their mark on music history with a bluesy, hard rock vibe that continues to influence the sounds of rock n’ roll today. On January 29th, Harmonix is proud to bring a collection of the band’s oldest and newest hits to the Rock Band Music Store as part of “Aerosmith’s Greatest Dimension Pack”!

“Aerosmith’s Greatest Dimension Pack” kicks off with classic tracks from the Boston bad boys, including two tracks that originally appeared on the group’s sophomore album, 1975’s Toys in the Attic – “Walk This Way” and “Sweet Emotion.” “Back in the Saddle,” which originally appeared on 1976’s Rocks, and a live version of the emotional influential ballad “Dream On” will also be included in the pack!

Completing this incredible collection will be two new Aerosmith tracks, “Legendary Child” and “Lover Alot,” both from 2012’s Music From Another Dimension!, available now.

Tracks can be purchased individually, as well as part of “Aerosmith’s Greatest Dimension Pack,” and Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrades will be available for both “Sweet Emotion” and “Dream On (Live)”!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation®3 system (January 29th, 2013):

• Aerosmith – “Walk This Way”

• Aerosmith – “Sweet Emotion” X

• Aerosmith – “Back in the Saddle”

• Aerosmith – “Dream On (Live)” X O

• Aerosmith – “Legendary Child”

• Aerosmith – “Lover Alot”

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system January 30th)

Price:

$9.99, £8.89 UK, €10.99 EU (800 Microsoft Points™, 1000 Wii Points™) for the “Aerosmith’s Greatest Dimension Pack”

$1.99 USD, £1.19 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points ™, 200 Wii Points™) per song

$0.99 USD (80 Microsoft Points™, 100 Wii Points™), £0.59 UK, €0.79 EU per song for eligible Pro Guitar/Pro Bass upgrade

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; tracks marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar and Pro Bass expansions for $0.99 per song.

OMG, Walk This Way. Awesome track for Rock Band.

I might have to get Dream On just because I love that song, although it's a bit slow for RB. Edit: just listened to it again, definiteliy too moody for RB.

Another week of Blitz repeats, nothing new here except the pro upgrade for The Wicker Man. I'm not complaining after last week's content though. For PS3 owners, "St. Elmo's Fire" is being ported over from RBN this week.

DLC Week of 2/5 - Blitz Singles: Queen, Iron Maiden, Great White & Avenged Sevenfold!

Hey gang,

On February 5th, tracks previously available as part of Rock Band Blitz will be made available for download as singles on the Rock Band Music Store! These tracks include Avenged Sevenfold’s “So Far Away,” Great White’s “Once Bitten Twice Shy,” Iron Maiden’s “The Wicker Man,” and Queen’s “Death on Two Legs.”

Additionally, for the first time, a Pro Guitar and Pro Bass upgrade will be available for Iron Maiden’s metal classic, “The Wicker Man”!

Another Valentine's Day week, another awesome collection of cheesy singles from HMX! Unfortunately there's no pack available, but I'll probably get most if not all of these. As a bonus, the pro upgrade for "More than Words" is included free with the track. My only concern about these tracks is that "Love Hurts" is a 2009 re-record, so I'll have to check the quality on that one. I'm hoping it isn't like the other Nazareth re-record, Hair of the Dog, which is pretty bad.

DLC Week of 2/12 - Extreme, Nazareth, Peter Cetera, REO Speedwagon & Soft Cell!

Hey gang,

For all of the lovers out there this Valentine’s Day, Harmonix presents a collection of music’s greatest rock and pop ballads, coming to the Rock Band Music Store on February 12th!

Extreme’s acoustic classic, “More Than Words” – off 1990’s Extreme II: Pornograffiti – was a departure from the band’s funky rock sound, but managed to reach number one on the U.S. Billboard Hot 100! As a bonus, every “More Than Words” download will include a Pro Guitar upgrade!

Originally recorded by The Everly Brothers in the 1960s, Nazareth made “Love Hurts” a huge hit in the late ‘70s, making it an international hit for the Scottish rockers. This 2009 re-recording of the track by the band brings all the feeling and energy of the original to Rock Band!

Peter Cetera’s Billboard Hot 100 number one hit “Glory of Love,” from 1986’s Solitude/Solitaire, also earned the singer/songwriter a nomination for an Academy Award for “Best Original Song” as it appeared in the film The Karate Kid, Part II!

Among REO Speedwagon’s thirteen Top 40 hits, the classic rock power ballad “Keep On Loving You” may be their most memorable, peaking at number one on the US Billboard Hot 100!

Soft Cell’s “Tainted Love,” from the English pop duo’s 1981 debut, Non-Stop Erotic Cabaret, will also be available on the Rock Band Music Store on February 12th!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation®3 system (February 12th, 2013):

• Extreme – “More Than Words” X

• Nazareth – “Love Hurts”

• Peter Cetera – “Glory of Love” O

• REO Speedwagon – “Keep On Loving You” O

• Soft Cell – “Tainted Love” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system February 13th)

Price:

$1.99 USD, £1.19 UK, €1.49 EU (160 Microsoft Points ™, 200 Wii Points&#8482 per song

Tracks marked with “O” feature support for keyboards; the track marked with “X” will offer Pro Guitar track for no additional cost.

Great tracks there. Definitely thinking about More Than Words. Not much instrumentation in it, though, which is probably why they're throwing in the pro track.

Glory of Love is one of the cheesiest songs ever written. I love it but I'm not sure it will work for RB - "I am the man who will fight for your honor...I'll be the hero you're dreaming of...".

Oh, you could make some great nachos with that stuff!!!

Yes, sadly this "Neverending" thread will be ending in April.

Rock Band DLC Releases Ending in April

Well, it's been a great run, and Rock Band has the most DLC ever released for any game by a large margin. It looks like there will still be some RBN releases for the 360 after April, but I don't know how long the authoring groups will continue them.

We have DLC scheduled through the next few weeks, including what we feel is an appropriate track for the final release on April 2nd.

There is one song scheduled for the last week of new DLC.

I'm hoping this final track might be "American Pie" by Don McLean (pure speculation on my part), but we'll have to wait and see.

Well, these posts are definitely bittersweet now that we're counting down to the end. But it's not done yet - 4 new singles up next week from Staind, Queensryche and The Flys. I'll get some of these, but I haven't figured out which ones yet.

EDIT: In case there are any Pink Floyd fans out there, I should add that Silent Lucidity reminds me quite a bit of Pink Floyd. Check it out if you don't know Queensryche.

DLC Week of 2/26 - Singles from The Flys, Queensrÿche, and Staind!

Hey gang,

Four singles are hitting the Rock Band Music Store on February 26th, starting with “Got You (Where I Want You),” The Flys’ first single from their second studio album, 1998’s Holiday Man. Queensrÿche’s epic “Silent Lucidity” – a Grammy-nominated track from the band’s 1990 album, Empire – will also be available. Finally, two tracks from rockers Staind will be available: “It’s Been Awhile,” the lead single from 2001’s Break the Cycle, and “So Far Away,” from 2003’s 14 Shades of Grey!

Available on Xbox 360, Wii, and PlayStation®3 system (February 26th, 2013):

• The Flys – “Got You (Where I Want You)" X

• Queensrÿche – “Silent Lucidity” O

• Staind – “It’s Been Awhile”

• Staind – “So Far Away” O

(These tracks will be available in Europe on PlayStation®3 system February 27th)
