Not a bad price for a decent game. Though I would have to say that I did enjoy playing NWN 1 more.

NWN 1 was an amazing game that I could not stop playing for almost a year. This game became a gift to my 12 year old nephew after a week. Could not get into it at all.

NWN2 was so good right up to the very end. Then they had a janitor do the voice acting for the ending. Still, one of my top 5 games of all time. I had tried NWN1 and didn't think it was that great, never beat it.

NWN2 had a much better single player campaign than NWN1. The writing, characters, and abundant voice work were all very well done, it's like a 3D version of one of the old BIS/Bioware games. (Though I do agree with brianmanahan about the ending voice over, it stood out as being lower quality than the rest.)

The worst voice acting was the lady that came into the city watch HQ in the merchant quarter (I guess from the NWN 9) that was pissed at Captain Brelana and was "yelling" at her?, man she was horrible.

Yes, NWN2 is better than the first, but the ending left a lot to be desired. If I had an expansion pack to play right afterwards, it would have been fine-but maybe that was the idea (i.e. encouragement to buy an expansion when it comes out).

Yeh, this game is not for everyone's taste, it focuses on plot / dialog / character development more so than combat. This is not an action RPG (aka diablo or fable), but very similar to Baldur's Gate 2. FPS and action RPG fans will most likely find this game boring.

just a heads up

My 6800GT could barely keep up with it (maybe the new patches and the new XP nvidia drivers make it run better), bought an AGP X1950 Pro to solve the performance problem and it worked like a charm, but I also game at 1600x1200, but the 4200 meets the minimum specs.

I can only play action rpgs if they are very good (ie nonrepetitive combat) or I'm racing against someone else to beat them first. Otherwise I never finish them.

NWN is one of the few RPG's I put the time in to finish. If NWN2 is less bugged now I might have to pick it up.

No it doesn't. You need a SM 2.0 card or better (although there was a hack using 3danalyze). I wouldn't try playing it on anything less than a 7600, and that x1950pro is really more like it.

Coincidentally (not!), an expansion picking up from this ending has been announced for fall.

As strange as this sounds, anyone willing to upload a few music tracks from the game? I remember you could play the music from the game right off the folder (Bmu just rename to mp3). There were a couple of tracks in there I really liked, one was the Neverwinter city theme. Can't for the life of me remember where I placed my DVD though, I hate it when I put games in other jewel cases / boxes to save time swapping discs out.

NWN2 1.05 played fine on a lower end system of mine: A64/3000 (754), 1gb, 9800pro. That's with shadows off, and I didn't try anything above its default 1024x768, but it looked fine to me.

lol i have dual 8800 gtx 768mb running in SLi and i'm surprised the kind of punishment this game deals out. I only get like 35 fps and I have a quad core 3.2 with 4gb of ram too!

games pretty fun though!

You are correct, I was looking at a preview website. Wikipedia confirms your statement.

By the way, if any of you are interested, here is the NWN2 bash thread over in software:

I just wish the Player Resource Consortium worked correctly with NWN2. I had all kinds of problems with the beta...

http://nwnprc.netgamers.co.uk/

For those that don't know, it basically add in tons of extra races, classes, abilities, spells, feats, etc., etc. All kinds of stuff from the PnP D3 games were added to allow more variety and life to the more limited video games. One of the reason why PnP works so well was because there was so much stuff for it, and if you didn't have something you thought you would like, you could always create it (with the DM's approval and possibly some play testing). That was how so much stuff evolved in the first place, and many players of the video games always wanted to play as their characters that they have developed in the PnP games, but couldn't because of tweaks to rules in the video game (take parry mode for instance... no such thing in the real game, as there is no need for it, the rules are in place, but the developers thought it would be too easy for people to just parry under the real PnP rules, so they decided to make you waste skill points for it).

I have started playing NWN1 all over again using my favorite race, the Rakshasa. While I still like being a sorcerer in the video game rules, the vast increase in new spells starts to finally make a wizard a little more useful. I mean in the PnP games, a sorcerer was almost always a much more limited character class due to an almost infinite number of spells out there. However, in the video games, where there were only 8-12 spells per spell level total, it is no real problem being only able to select 4-5 of them. Now with the expanded number of spells, things get a little more difficult. I highly recommend everyone to check it out. Again, I just wish they were farther along with the port to NWN2, but it looks like they have been screwed in a sense from the game's developers with the last couple patches not allowing classes with a class id over 27 to level up (27 is the highest ID used in the game itself, so they effectively screwed all add-on mods for classes or prestige classes other then the official ones....)
