I know, been asked before but I'm wondering, which is more fun to play. I want something Baldurs Gate like.

If you want something Baldur's gate like, NWN. There are two sellers in the ForSale forum selling it for 25 shipped.

Both are pretty good...both have lots of mods...you can play Neverwinter Nights online though...you can't do that with Morrowind...I guess it depends if you want to travel by yourself or with a group of people (even though in the single player NWN, you are on your own too, except you can have one henchman). The tribunal expansion (for morrowind) allows you to hire someone to travel with you...

Yea, NWN will run fine on that rig. You might have some problems with Marrowind because of your cpu though.

Dungeon Siege is very fun though thin on plot, kind of a 3D Icewind Dale. A friend played through it on a Celeron 400 / Geforce2 so your 700 MHz rig should run it well (at 640x480 or 800x600).

NWN: Haven't played it, but a Computer Gaming World writer pointed out in this issue that the single-player game is much weaker than Baldur's II, and argues if that's the best Bioware could do, why should you expect joe modguy to make something better for single-player?

I assume you've already played through Fallout 1-2 and Planescape: Torment? 2D, but three of the all-time best RPGs. Also, Jagged Alliance 2 is almost an RPG in the way you manage inventory, upgrade armor and weapons, and have your party's skills improve over time.

Not Fallout. Planescape: Torment, I played for a while but this one was really TO "texty", had to read too much I really loved Baldur's Gate, that was one heck of a game but BG2 was too hard

Jagged Alliance is quite fun, I played it a couple times actually.

ive played all 3 games ( MW, DS and NWN) MW is a bit diffrent then DS and NWN but i had the most fun in NWN. DS got very repetative after a while and got boring very fast. NWN has many mods and extra player made maps to play on.. there for NWN will prolly get you more play time on the whole

you need to understand that the point of NWN is that its so people can make up their own plots... its more of a mod platform than anything else. there was some pretty god work done with people hacking BG, so i bet those same people are all over NWN.

Not fallout? You should -- FO1,2 have great turn-based tactical combat similar to JA2 (including better targeted shots) and very good stories (but much less texty than Planescape). Cool low-tech and future tech weapons, many interesting side quests.

Maybe I get the FO series, I bet there are some budget versions out there. Just installed Morrowind from a friend, I actually saw it running on his rig(PIV 2.4 GHz, Radeon 9700, 1GB RAM) and I'm not that impressed with the graphics (ok, my rig is just too slow). I have to play it at 800x600 to get it "playable" I actually like more awesome 3D effects in 2D games, like Baldurs Gate had.

I warn you morrowwind to even get anywhere will take an awful lot of time. The scope of the game is so massive and non-linear that unless you have hundreds of hours to commit to it don't bother!

Dungeon siege is very very fun multiplayer. When we first got it I played with my clanmates man we must have played all night friday night.

NWN is fun too but not as action packed as DS.

That's what I heard quite a few times. So Neverwinter Nights is a more "Action" game? And some of you said it's just a "mod-platform", thus is the single player game not so much fun/good?

I've played NWN, MW, DS and I prefer NWN. I've never played any of the Baldur's Gate series so I can't compare.

Edit:

I played Morrowind for a while, and I didn't like how open-ended it was. There's so much stuff to do it's a bit overwhelming. Also the lack of multiplayer sucked, it would've been much more fun if you could run around with some friends. The game looks great at high resolution, but performance suffers. Not too much of an issue for a game like this though.

Dungeon Siege was very monotonous. Go someplace, kill things on the way, go somewhere else days away, kill more stuff along the way. It was tiring and I got bored with it pretty quick. Multiplayer didn't work so well for me. I'd get 5 seconds of lag which made it impossible to get anything done. The friend I was playing with is in Australia on dialup, but that hasn't been a problem with other games.

Neverwinter Nights has story out the yingyang. Lots of things to do, but unlike Morrowind you don't have to run around a continent to do it all. Quests (so far anyway) are usually nearby, within the town you're in and such. Multiplayer is a lot of fun, never had any lag problems at all. Runs well at high resolution.

NWN is pretty cool, but I was pissed off because I screwed up my charactor and every time I opened my spell book it would crash

DS is extremely repetitive though, even with a lot of mods it gets boring fast.

Used to play on a server with all monsters 1000* stronger than normal, but we'd just further tune up equipment and it would get boring again. There'd be nothing new anyway, all the fun would be in seeing how strong you could make the monsters before they became impossible, and editing your savefile to lower your level again, and to change equipment.

Or shall I just get Baldur's Gate II cuz according the screen-shots, they tuned up the graphics engine quite a bit(I prefer "pre-rendered" graphics cuz they just look better, although you can't "move" them).

Not even close. Dungeon Siege is more like watching a movie in which you need to click once every scene just to advance the action. As a "gee whiz, they can do cool things..." demo it's great, but as a game you'll probably be bored silly after 20 minutes. It's like they took the original Diablo, updated the graphics and removed all the gameplay so that even a 3 year old could play.

If you're looking for something like Baldur's Gate, play BG2, it's updated and improved in many ways. In particular, travel is much better, no more slogging through empty maps to get from place to place. After BG2, the closest things are Icewind Dale and Icewind Dale 2. Same developers, same game engine. If you've played those, the next best thing would be NWN. It's almost a great game, but the inability to control your henchmen is a major setback. And as others have mentioned, check out Fallout and Fallout 2, both are excellent games and can probably be found as a bundle for well under $20. But like with NWN, your henchmen are on their own, so be prepared for them to do a lot of stupid things, including fragging you quite often.

Dungeon Siege was developed in much the same fashion... kinda like a game development package with a tutorial game.

Morrowind got really old to me after awhile.. I just didn't have my entire life to spend playing it.. tho I may pick it up again in the future and finish it. I loved NWN tho, I'm playing another game of it now.

NWN had so many bugs when I was playing it, pissed me off so many times. Worse was the times the save file got corrupted. But I finally beat it, the final boss was too easy. Ugh, I hope they fixed the bugs though.

How about Icewind Dale 2? It's pretty much "BG Lite" but not as dumb/boring as folks say Dungeon Siege...is.
