Currently you can make enough Astral Diamonds to get a key in 2 days (and the time required keeps going down), so another moot "p2w" point.

It's 100% pay to win
Not really you're not forced to pay. You can get what you need without paying a dime although you are highly encouraged to pay because of the Zen to Astral Diamond valuations.

Like I said...

So it's more like pay not to grind.

Which for a lot of people does = p2w.

I don't feel the need to pay to skip the grind. If the game gets boring at max level then all I did was spend some spare time and not money on the game.

Lag can be pretty bad at times; I know they're working on it.

GWF is a terrible class in the beginning; I can attest to that. However, many have stated that later on they're amazing at AOE damage. I haven't gotten that far. I wouldn't expect a GWF to be able to match a TR in 1v1 dps.

Yeah GWF is a pain at low level, unlike the GF which is really fun to play.

I hope GWF is getting some love later on when he levels cause I can see this class dishing awesome DPS all over the place.

Can someone explain the "p2w" currency in the game? I see so many different icons in stores I'm not sure what's what.

Yeah good question. There's the Zen market, those crystals you can trade for stuff...
It's not all that natural when you first jump into this game.

Overall i'm really impressed with this beta. Except for the rare quest bugs where you can't progress (gate won't open, game lose the nest quest step...) i've been having lots of fun with my Guardian.

I just hope they will add more weapon types and looks in the final release, i'm getting tired of seeing only weapons for my GF and all items look more or less the same.

It's the same non-objective folks that are grasping at straws, trying to find any reason to bash the game, likely without having played it. Probably because of dislike for cryptic. It's just old and tiring at this point, yawn.

Like you said, nothing I've seen in the shop is required to win. You can use them to skip a grind, but the game so far has been very fun.

Adjusted a setting in the opera browser so I can now log on through the mobile for some profession stuff.

Didn't spend many of my power points and stuff when I was in beta, but doing so now and it definitely keeps you more capable of going through the levels as you advance.

Obviously nothing is required, it's not really a competitive game right now. Raids are coming soon though, and if a competitive raiding scene were to happen then the top guilds would have to put money into the game to remain competitive. If you don't want to call it pay to win then that's fine, since there is no such thing as winning. What is undeniable is that you can pay real money for a very large advantage in your character's power, and can become incredibly rich in astral diamonds if you want to put a lot of money into the game. You can certainly play the game and progress through T1's and 2's without paying money, and get good gear even (especially if you exploited the GF bug). Someone with 10 grand can go to the auction house and get bis everything with best enchants, mount, full 24 slot bags, without even walking into an endgame instance.

and yes I do play the game and I also raided with top world guilds in WoW for many years (overrated, cuties only, exodus, blood legion, adept). I know what I'm talking about. I do enjoy the game but I am certainly not going to try to compete given that you will always lose to the noob with a lot of money. This is a game to be played for fun and that's it. I wouldn't even touch pvp

That's the thing they've skipped the grind. None of those things they've bought cannot be had through grinding the game.... given the prices of things and the time it does take to grind... this is getting into the impractical areas of more money or free time than the average person has.

If the game lasts a few years and holds a decent population: Then the people who play regularly 2 maybe up to 4 or 5 hours 3-5 days a week will be able to go toe-to-toe with, and beat, the noob who payed insane amounts of money up front.
I wouldn't even touch pvp

It depends on the how well they do PvP

it would be easy I think to bracket any competitive PvP play by how much they actually spent in the Store.

Unless of course they keep adding better stuff that you have to then grind for, while the noobs pay to get. Then you are stuck on a never ending treadmill trying to catch up to someone that just buys the new gear that always comes out just before you are able to earn it by playing.

But it is not in the best interest of the Devs to do that, they WANT you to spend money. The entire thing is set up to try to convince you to spend some money.

EDIT: Not that spending money is bad, the game has to make money somehow. And this is the real thing we have to face. If the game is to last, and other games like it are to be made, it has to make money. That means people have to spend money on the things. So, in that light I think the Pay to Win format is not really that bad. It lets you play the game as much as you want and only pay for it if you deem it worth spending your money on AFTER you have play it a bunch. That feels a lot more fair then the games that make you shell out $60 to find out if the game is any fun. (and then ask you to shell out another $10-20 dollars to get the rest of it.)

But how is this any different from the older MMO games where the guy who plays the game all day every day is first to everything while the people who have lives and responsibilities in real life are on that same never ending treadmill trying to catch up?

Because it is reversed. Now it is not the people that are dedicated enough to give up their lives so they can play the game 8 hours a day that get the reward but the person that plays a few hours a week but can afford to pay $100 to get the good gear. To a lot of people that feels unfair. A lot of people believe the game should be self contained and how well you do should depend on your skill and dedication in the game not depend on how much disposable income you have outside of it.

And to counter, a lot of people feel it's unfair that those who spend hours upon hours playing every day are at an unfair advantage compared to those who can only play half as much or even less.

Until they start selling I Win PVP Buttons in the real money store, I don't see any problem with letting people skip past some of the grind.

Of all the MMOS I have tried post-World of Warcraft Era....this might be the best I felt about. So many reasons why I shouldn't like it because it is the "same thing". But it isn't bad! And its FREE.

But...the only MMO really on my radar is Star Citizen. I actually think that could be what I have been waiting for....

hmmmm, Paycheck every week or a depressing existence that consist of gaming all day long and wondering if you will be on the street and lonely at age 60? Gee guy, I could see where you have an internal conflict over this issue. Wait, whaaa?

So what you are basically saying it that it is unfair that unemployed people play video games that you like all day and beat you at them, meanwhile you own a home, a car, a big screen TV, etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc etc....I mean seriously, do you know how ridiculous you sound?

I think people would complain even if they paid us to play the game. I am still enjoying it thus far though I also have a few complaint (which I guess makes me a hypocrit!)

-I wish it was slower to level... even very casually I'm already level 31
-The ZEN market prices are atrocious, its 20-30$ to buy a companion, ouch!

Ok, I can understand all this talk about paying to get the step ahead of everyone but what about, simply put, enjoying the content without the freaking odd habit of "my toon is better than yours" or "this noob paid money so he's better than me"?

What's the point of being overly competitive in a 0s and 1s environment? Where's the simple enjoyement of gaming?

Just to be clear, i'm all cool with those who feel the need to be the best in a game and brag about their shiny new legendary pink glowing Butter knife of the Moms. I'm happy for them putting so much time in the game while I was laying down with my girl experimenting some nasty cool tricks with her mouth on me.

Now that's bragging, i'm no better I guess.

Is there any other weapons for Fighters than freaking Swords in this game?
My Dwarf is not happy...level 12 and only see Swords drops, Swords from vendors and Swords as rewards...

I received a Blue 2H club from the 2nd last boss of Cloak Tower (beat it with 2 players at lvl 17).
