It's too bad that you can't get it in black unless you get the $1500 version.

For some reason, black on an Apple product just doesn't seem right to me. Probably the same reason why I have a white iPod.

If black was the same price I'd get it.

Wow, I'm surprised these are this cheap. And they have the 1.83ghz Core Duo, I was expecting the 1.66. I was planning on waiting until September to get a Merom, maybe I'll jump on this instead.

5.2 pounds seems kinda chunky for a 13.3" model, but still...I think I'll just have to drop $1,099 for the base system. I was gonna wait for the Dell XPS M1210, but I have the feeling it will be much more expensive and I don't feel like waiting around on price drops/coupons.

And is there any particular reason why the white 2.0GHz black model is $200 more expensive than the 2.0GHz white model? Granted, it has an 80GB hard drive vs a 60GB hard drive, but $200????????

Is black worth that much?

That looks sweet. I like the white one better. The only thing I would add to the base unit is probably more memory, but besides that it looks like a nice, affordable laptop.

it's up on apple's website now. I'd definitely buy it if I needed another laptop, but my ibm t42 will do for now.

Oh man, I want it!

Boot Camp and I'd have everything I needed out of a laptop, since I could use my GPS.

What's the difference between a mini-DVI port and non-mini?

Would it be enough to power my 2005FPW (1680x1050)?

Yes, it'll run your 2005FPW, basically you just need a small adapter that comes with the laptop to run it. (It's space saving on the laptop)

It's nice that they do this with the macbook, the ibooks you weren't able to run anything larger then the native resolution (1024*768) but these can go up to 1920*1200 on an external monitor.

Hopefully they'll release a 12" that will be 1 lb lighter and around the same price...then I'll get one. 5.2lb is just a bit too heavy for my everyday use.

Yes, it will power your 2005FPW just fine. It's the same graphics as the Mini, and it's powering my 2405FPW without a hitch.

You'll need a Mini-DVI to DVI converter for your 2005FPW, though.

EDIT: Whoops, didn't refresh the page, beat to it twice, hehe.

I _seriously_ doubt that will happen.
