I only wanted it b/c it was a cheap way to get a small dual-core WS notebook. Oh well, better luck next time

Wuss.

The two-finger right click does work, just tested.

Can you post pics of the back of it while powered up?

The back of the laptop? It's the same as the old iBooks. The Apple logo lights up. I cannot upload a pic right now because I'm in the process of copying over 7GB of photos. It's massacring my network.

Cool, I haven't seen a pic of it to confirm.

Do you know if it works in windows?

I can test tomorrow once this copy is done. I am sort on Cat5 so I'm transferring these files over 802.11g. I'm guessing no, though. Many, Windows with only one mouse is hard to navigate

If you're looking for a cheap, decent laptop, this ISN'T for you... Get a used laptop because by the looks of things, you don't need a very 'powerful' machine and will help you in the long run (A PIII based notebook maybe?). Otherwise I'd suggest you get an IBM T series, a T42 would be nice (older but much cheaper than the new ones), or you can get a used IBM T21/22/23 on ebay...

I don't understand your desire for a dual core laptop, care to explain? For the majority of tasks one does on a laptop, anything over a 1GHz PIII is overkill for the way I see things, you mostly need ram and good battery life.

The only reason why I bought a nice IBM T42 is because I wanted a laptop with excellent battery life, a good video card for gaming (R9600, not the best but better than an R9000 or integrated video), slim, large high resolution screen.

But remove the factor of gaming then you'll only need an integrated video card and a reasonably speedy processor. I find it hard to believe there are any applications you use that could benefit solely from a fast processor that you'd be doing ONLY on your laptop.

If I were you, since you picked up a macbook, I assume you want a relatively cheap but high quality laptop.

Well if you're considering a tablet, I'd get one instead of a mac book, you don't need an expensive machine just to know the apple OS.. Either use a mac emulator which SHOULD run much faster now or get a cheap mac. Infact I was considering getting a tablet PC, at the very minimum, to test it out.. Might get a used one first before I invest a large sum of money into it.

Doesn't look like it

Temp solution:

This one works pretty well. I put it in the Statup menu and have it running silently.

Wow I think I'm in love I NEED this now! I just got back into town from a Vacation so I'm kinda catching up on all the news around this. Any good MacBook resources out there yet? I'm going to goto an Apple store and check this out tonight and maybe just buy one (assuming they have stock).

Ours gets warm, but no lockups, and I've had it up and running since we picked it up. If you have any experience with Powerbooks, it is the same level of heat. Seems very similar to the Dell D600/610 line.

I'm going to put Arctic Silver 5 on mine when I get it. Check out this pic from the Apple Service Manual on how to apply thermal grease:

Ugh! Also, 7200rpm drives not only fit but work great in the MacBooks. No heat problems with them reported.

Why? Not all of them are having such a serious heat issue and if you do get one that's having an issue then Apple will take care of you under warranty. I've seen some pretty shady things on Dell laptops as well...

I've got a MacBook Pro and I was surprised to see that the tip about the two-finger secondary click feature doesn't work on my machine. Must be new for the MacBook, hopefully I'll get a software update or something to add that.
