I ordered the white with SuperDrive and 80 GB hard drive. The black costs WAY more with the same specs, just because of the colour.

I'm not enamoured with the idea of a glossy screen though.

Yeah. Not bad considering the price, and the fact that it includes the optical drive, battery, and integrated iSight webcam.

What's wrong with GMA 950? It's a Mac, you hardly need more, cos there's not much you can do with it.

If it had a better GPU, you could run Aperture on it.

Plus something like a Radeon X300 would be way better for light gaming.

I would have paid an extra $75 for an X300.

Yeah, the graphics are the only thing from making me from buying the Macbook. Black and White are the same price, its just they made the Black with higher specs on default (tho the white can be customized the same way). I want a Mac Laptop for college, and use Boot Camp for WinXP.

I love they added iSight/Front Row, Line-in Audio, Dual-Channel memory, Kept Firewire, and made the screen 13". 120GB SATA Hard Drive (all storage drives seem to be 5200rpm sata), but Still no backlight keys, but thats fine with me.

Id totally get 2GB of Ram, but from Newegg or something (2GB DDR2 667 SDRAM is $160 from newegg, compared to Apple @ $400). Just the video concerns me... I dont think I can spare another $800 for a Macbook Pro...

Apple wants $500 for the MacBook's ram OWC has it for $226:

I'm not surprised at the graphics though. It's basically a portable Mac Mini with an iSight built in. My local store is getting them in tomorrow supposedly, so a hands-on test will determine which way I go. Aside from that, w00t!

Nope. The Black still costs a lot more, even if you configure the white the exact same way.

No backlight keys? That's a bummer, it was a neat feature on the MBPs. I'm going to the local Apple store tomorrow to have a look at things; the MBP is tempting too because it hardly weighs more than the MacBook.

who would want this thing anyway? Only reason to get apple lappys is if you are getting the powerbook or "pro" now... then you can take advantage of the great design and construction of those things... they are the ONLY laptops I've ever owned that STAY sturdy. The aluminum casing is a great idea (unless you need to open it or if you dent it..._) If you want a plastic laptop, get a dell or something.

Charging $150 for black is sad. It looks like a mini-DVI adapter is no longer standard?

As previously discussed, the Intel GMA 950 is not bad at all. The main downside is that it shares 80MB of main memory, which unfortunately comes as a 2x256MB dual-channel standard configuration.

Argh I want merom NOW.

Might get this to hold me over until then, can't decide. There is a refurb 2ghz/256mb vram MBP for $1999... tempting.

Battery Life up to 6 hours:

Ah, you have eagle eyes! However:

Work Longer Unplugged

MacBook offers up to 6 hours of battery life. (Up to 2.5 hours of DVD playback, and up to 3.5 hours with wireless turned on.) Here?s how to squeeze out every last second of battery power when you need it, though of course battery life depends on configuration and use.

Also, I hate running the display at anything less than max or near-max brightness; this is one of the reasons I never got a PowerBook or iBook.

Ya, I saw that, kind of sucks but considering the processor/form factor, not really that bad.
