Ive read a lot here lately, been to the store, here is what ive seen, and what they cost online. In order that i like. All three have a decent picture.
KDS 195TF 1600 x 1200 85htz $412.00 nice picture.
Mitsubishi 91 plus 1600 x 1200 75 htz.
Samsung 955DF 1600 X 1200 65 htz nice price.
I will purchase online today.
Does anybody have bad experiences with these monitors?
Can someone explain the 65 - 85htz thang to me?
Your help is always appreciated.

That 65-85Hz thing is the refresh rate, refresh rate is the number of times the monitor redraws itself per second, usually higher the better, 85Hz is totally flicker-free so its more desirable.

60Hz will kill your eyes quite soon. 85Hz is usable, so look that the monitor supports at least 85Hz refresh on the resolution you will work on.

I would go for the Mitsubishi because of its build quality. I have one and I have never looked back on it. But the KDS has a very high refresh rate so really it is up to you which one you want. For games it would be wise to go for the KDS even though the Mitubi is good too.

the choise is your the KDS and Mitsubi are both good.

The KDS TF is nice, It is good monitor for that price... wait .. let me rephrase, it is an excellent monitor for that price

I am using Mitsu monitor. It is nice as well, can't be more flatter ... buat It has bad corner and text is kinda fuzzy at 1600*1200.

I would say go for KDS, or mitsu, they are one of the best 19 incher

I'd say Samsung, supports resos all the way up to 2048x1536, does 1600x1200 at 90Hz, cant go wrong with it.

I also have about 3 or 4 friends in the market for a 19". So far, I've found the ViewSonic E790 at Buy.Com for $335.87 + $34.00 shipping. Take $30.00 off using a coupon found at FatWallet. If they'll match the $280.00 price I found for it at nutrend.com, it could be had for as little as $286.00 shipped!

I saw a couple disparaging words about it in reviews found here.. But it's really hard to believe that any Viewsonic could be that bad. I mean, they make the Optiquest line as their lower level series.

I'll be checking this topic often for more 19" input and suggestions. Like I said, there are at least 3 people ready to jump right now!

Ornery:

I can believe how bad ViewSonic can get sometimes, especially this E790 model. To put it in a good way, its not that good of a monitor, to put it in a bad way its a total POS. Samsung and Hitachi models can be found for just as low, there is little reason to get the lowly ViewSonic E series.

Well you're missing the Samsung 900NF from that list. The 900NF is more comparable to those other two since they are both AG monitors. And of those three, I'd pick the 900NF not just because I have it though. I went through the same decision a while ago and those two and a couple more were my options but I chose the Samsung 900NF because it had killer refresh rates, highest max res, BNC in case I ever was to use it, and just recommendations that it was a great monitor. I'm completely satisfied with it.

The Mitsubishi 91 plus is the most expensive of the three but maybe for a reason. Maybe it looks the best, I don't know. Though if you were to spend that much I think you would be better off with a Sony. So I would get the 900NF and if that was out of stock then I would get the KDS AV-195TF.

I would say WITHOUT A DOUBT buy the Samsung SyncMaster 955DF from Amazon.com. If you scour the Hot Deals forum you should find info on how to get that monitor for ~$220 from Amazon.com. By the way, I have this monitor and I think it's a dream. A lot of people complained about it but both and I and my friend have it and I have seen nothing to complain about besides a little eye strain at 1600x1200.

900NF. Great image quality, high refresh rates, BNC, for a low price. What more could you want?

Hitachi CM715 $297.95 at Buy.Com with $33.00 shipping. TECHONWEB.COM has it listed for $276.00 on pricewatch and $328.60 on their web site. I could use a few more reviews.

...WITHOUT A DOUBT... Hmmm, seems there is some doubt:

"whatever you do...don't get the samsung 955df...if you want something less than 300 bucks go with the samsung 950p...i have both monitors and i totally am in favor of the 950p. though the 955df is flat, the display doesn't compare to the 950p" - Shu8 Date Posted: Dec/18/2000 11:31 PM

I'll keep looking. I'd go for an AG myself, but 2 of the 3 folks I know, that are buying these, are trying to keep the price down.

The 955DFs only problem is no BNC, which isn't that big an issue unless you are a freak .

Hmmmm, this sucks. I swear, I'd rather just spend the money and grab a SONY. Compromise generally leaves you wanting. When you consider the number of hours spent in front of that screen, a couple hundred more dollars seems trivial. I'll let these guys decide for themselves. This is about the best deal I've come up with to this point, as far as compromise goes:

Reviewed the Syncmaster 950P 19"/18V .26mm monitor on Dec 03,2000

Crisp Text. No, the 950P isn't a "flat screen" or "near flat" screen monitor. What it is is a very good CRT type tube with exceptional text quality in a 19" size. I actually ordered a 955DF (see my review there) flat screen Samsung, and changed to the 950P when the 955DF didn't have the text quality I was looking for. Color quality in the 955DF seems to be more even across the screen for people interested in anything that is color qualtiy sensitive. I detect the edges of the 950P's screen to be slightly pink in undertones near the edges with white or gray backgrounds. Just a tiny bit, mind you. This is why I give it four stars. Colors could be more even across the screen. I see little else to knock this product on. If you play games, or use the computer for text based use, this is a fantastic monitor. It has Sony FD Trinitron quality text without the damper wire lines or $570.00 price. And no, I don't really miss the flat screen I saw with the 955DF. It doesn't effect what I need most, clear text definition. When the flat screens have as good a text as this monitor, and at the same price, I'll be interested. Until then, PC World was correct, this is a best buy in a 19" monitor.

I've tried the Samsung NF, 91+, and the KDS TF......

My choice of those would be the 91+......Each of those monitors has it's own quirks........Don't get hung up on the 75hz@1600x1200 unless you will be running that resoulution for your desktop setting, and you should buy a 22" if you are....

Onvia dropped the price on the 91+ and you might be able to find a $50 off $500 coupon to get a great price if you have another need you can add to the order....

For that matter the Sony G400 is $507.00 - $50 = $457.00

The Mitsubishi DiamondPlus 91 is $425, so you wont be able to use the $50 off $500. I'd rather spend $5 more for the Samsung, which allows flicker free 85Hz at 1600x1200 instead of 75Hz.
