It's the nature of the business, the price goes up exponentially with size. The increase is on par with increases from other manufacturers based on size but not tech. Buy a set with similar features in the same size and you'll substantially more. Looking at a Sony 940D or Sammy KS9800, neither of which support Dolby Vision. Which has a better picture will have to be sorted out once professional reviews but I anticipate it being close but the more expensive sets ultimately having a better picture but whether that is worth the price difference will vary from person to person.
I brought it up because there wasn't a huge almost doubling of price. It's not a question of quality or what one is willing to spend. It's the fact that the last P series 70" was $2500 msrp. Vizio must really be cashing in to make charging almost double to go to 75" from 65". The jump from 65" to 70" last gen was $500-$700 iirc. The question is, what are you getting for twice the price beside the screen size? If nothing then the 75" is not a good buy really and it won't have the value that the last model had.
Well, buy top-of-the-line anything and you're never going to get the best value. Also, while only a 10" increase in diagonal a 75" TV is actually a 1/3 larger by area (1800 in2 to 2400 in2). Costs don't increase linearly as area increases, so a 33% bigger set will cost far more than 33% more to build. Even beyond costs, well, companies want higher margins on more expensive items. That's just economics. I always scratch my head when consumers complain that the top shelf item isn't as good a value. I mean, do people expect a 980 Ti to be just a little more than a 970? Really?
Given the new panel, process, etc, it could be...You never know, it could be the real cost.
Each one of these panels have to be perfect or close to it to be sold. The yields for the 65 inch may be WAY higher than for the 75 inches. You never know.
Omg, are you people all daft? This is a tv not a gpu. There is a hell of a lot more separating the 980ti from a 980 than just clock speed. And with gpus at least you get a more stuff, more cores, shaders, more more moar. :\
Vizio literally threw out their budget brand on the price of the 75". The price difference between the 55" and the 65" is 700 bucks. The 75" over the 65" a staggering 1,800 bucks. I think that's a lil more than true costs.
Larger TV's don't have more stuff? Really? Materials? Panel Yields? The core in a 980 and a 980Ti is the same, you realize, right? The only difference is some of the 980 has been fused off. If anything, it costs a lot more to make a larger tv than it does to go from a 980 to a 980Ti.
Anyhow, I said that it was more than true costs...it's the economics of buying top of the line anything. People like you like to bitch and whine...just don't buy it. It's not like a large TV is somehow a life requirement. Hell, that's why I don't own a large TV.

You're one of these belligerent types eh? You act as if you're helping but take every opportunity to dish troll. People like you... who the hell are you? I already own the previous P70 which is about a year old. Which is why I wonder aloud wtf happened to its price to make it jump that much when the 65" did not really move in price bracket. Who the hell are you to turn this into a stupid gpu like argument???
I figure being a tech site people already realize that higher end GPU's are never good values, and they don't whine about it. They realize that's simply the nature of the market. The same could be said with large TV's. It's an easy parallel to draw.
I do seem to recall that the only one calling people things is you. Daft, troll, belligerent?
