(edit) actually, *don't* go for the x300SE. Newegg has plenty of 6200 (128-bit, non-TC) and 6600 refurbs for about the same price ($61-$67 shipped) and those completely kill the x300 SE in performance.

I cannot stand flat panel through VGA cable for more than half an hour--pixel shimmering drives me nuts. I connect my 2405FP through DVI only.

I bought the dimension 8400 only for the 17" ultrasharp monitor, 160GB HD, and P4 630 CPU.

Other than that, I will sell the ram and video card on ebay and replace it with ddr2 pc4200 and a better video card.

do you know if Dimension 8400 comes with a good case and PSU. what is the motherbord they use? I called the customer service and they had no idea.

Grabbed a 3000 just because I could - with AR $348 + tax it's hard to go wrong. If the 17" VGA LCD is THAT hard to look at I'll just use it on the media (MP3) control box or one of the workstations in the cafe. I need secondary monitors as well when running dual screen.

Scream of a deal anyway you look at it - 2 yrs of support and a printer thrown it.

they changed the free lcd now to 19" E193FP from the Ultrasharp? 1704FPT which is slower 16ms vs 12ms and dual inputs vga and dvi

They use Intel MB's

Also they raise the price by a $100 for the 19" LCD $799 with no rebate
with 17" there was $100 rebate making $699
