Damn, you're right. Just checked the list, and the only SC's or KO's you can select are for slower cards, like the 8600's. Oh, well.

It's not a bad thing, but at MSRP of $300-350.. it's not any better at price/performance, and that's ASSUMING that street price will be anything like MSRP (what with all the gouging on 8800GT going on and all).

I agree.

Also, this is a very good sign that the new high-end will totally kill the current one for sure. I mean these are the "next-gen mid-range" card you know.

no these cards are the next gen mid highend card.

You're right, I stand corrected.

**UPDATE** They have updated the site and the GTS BESTED the GTX in Crysis @ 1920 x 1200!

Thank you very much...You just made my day .. Now I'm not waiting for a GTS !!! I'm going to buy my GT next week

I agree and was not arguing that point. Noise levels really depend on what review you read. FiringSquad has the 8800GT at 44 Dba and the HD 3870 at 40-41 Dba. Almost a wash.

Except when you realize decibels are algorithmic and 44 Dba is a lot louder than 40 Dba.

+4 db is a barely noticeable incrase

Appopin, if you consider something almost twice as loud (sone) and 2.5 times the RMS pressure amplitude as not noticable you need to get your hearing checked.

4dBA is a signficant difference in loudness.

How underwhelming. There is no way I would pay $80-$130 premium over $220 I paid for 8800GT for that kind of performance increase. I hope Nvidia releases 9800GTX soon.

+4dB is a significant increase in amplitude, but not perceived loudness. An increase of 10dB (3x amplitude) is perceived to be as twice as loud.

Mine, too.

I am currently running a 256MB 7950 GT, and I have been holding off overhauling my PC until a good video card comes out. I don't mind spending 400+ on a good video card, as I don't upgrade very often. It looks like I'll be waiting longer than I had hoped.

Glad I grabbed my EVGA Superclocked 8800GT on launch day for $239...

Cuz thats just not even encouraging. It's disgusting for the $80 price premium

Not to mention my card can OC to 725/1800/2050 stably.

Come on ATI give NVIDIA some freaking competition!!

Im in the same boat with my 7900GT, but its starting to have memory problems. Really looking at the 8800GTS for better gaming at 19x12 resolutions. problem is i cant find a GT at a price im willing to pay for an evga card.

i am certain my hearing is much better than average

+3 db is considered by most persons as a "noticeable" change as +1 db difference is generally accepted as the smallest change noticeable by human hearing
-but it is absolutely not significant

educate yourself:

http://www.phys.unsw.edu.au/jw/dB.html

One decibel is close to the Just Noticeable Difference (JND) for sound level.

From this benchie it sounds like a bad buy. The 8800GT is definitely better bang for buck - you lose 2 frames in most games and save $50-100.

too bad you cannot do tri-sli, at all!
All 3 cards are in seperate pc's.

Im not even a believer in 2 card sli at the moment, Nvidia makes good video cards, but their motherboards and sli....well, that would take a whole thread in itself to discuss.

What brand 7900 GT? I had an XFX, and they replaced mine with the 7950 GT.

Looks like they can pry my 8800GT out of my cold dead hands and put a 8800GTS in them

even more interesting... at 1920x1200 on crysis (demo, on winXP at DX9) the 8800GTS v3 512MB doesn't just defeat a GTX, it defeats an OVERCLOCKED GTX.

But the GTX wins on lower res... I wonder why, as supposedly the extra ram and ram controller bandwidth on the GTX should lead to opposite results (in theory)

Turn on AA & these new GTSes are going to get pwned by GTXes at high resolutions IMO...we'll see though i suppose.

I just hate how all these "new" nV cards are all more crippled architecturally.

lack of competition... AMD sucks right now so both nVidia and intel start raping the customers.

This is just early promotions - as released by nvidia pr. You can expect final performance to be much better. There cards always perform much better than their early free forum pr. Power draw and noise will likely stay the same. Shaping up to be a decent offering, but do wonder about availability.
