New Abit Fatal1ty FP-IN9 SLi nForce 650i

Hi

just though y guys should know there is a new Abit Fatal1ty motherboard with 650i chipset and its at a really good price, bout the same as the P5N-E 650i mobo

we need to a review of this board

do you think it will have all the voltage options plus the featuer on only increase FSB without increasing RAM speed like the P5N-E can

Hi,

Just got the abit to replace a P5N-E I killed in a BIOS flash.

BIOS seems ok,

CPU voltage control is coarse 1.325v to 1.7v in 0.025v steps. The P5N-E has much finer control but happy enough with this.

There doesn't seem to be a +100mv option for the CPU so the overal range is the same as the P5N-E

The northbridge has much finer voltage control, 0.03/0.04v increments at the lower end with 0.07 ish at the higher end. Seems a good function as I can run the FSB at 350 with just 1.2v giving me 3150Mhz with an E43

Otherwise the BIOS options are similar if much differently laid out.

Both will run at 3.2Ghz at ~ 1.4v, NB ~1.3v, Orthos 1hr

The Abit seems to have less vdroop, @ 3.375 1.5v P5N-E was 0.8-0.1v Abit was 0.2 - 0.3v then CPUz decided Ii was running at 1.2v. On both board Orthos fails after a few minutes.

Anyhow currently reinstalling XP as I had a few device issues from the P5N-E install.

Overall my initial view is that it's performance is very similar to the P5N-E with less vdroop.

Haven't tried the higher FSB's as yet, need to finish the reinstall first off.

Sales Tax??? Who the hell pays sales tax on the internet?? In the US you dont pay sales tax unless you live in the state where the WebStore is located or if it is a large chain like Best Buy or Apple and you buy it off the web you only pay sales tax if you have a Brick and Mortar store in your state.

I know that you europeans have that VAT tax which isn't a sales tax by definition. BTW If you guys hadn't let them take your guns away you could have revolted against that bullshit tax.

ok i just got a thermaltake 4 pin to 8 pin converter for the mobo

i should have the motherboard by the end of this week

my question is is that will this converter perform as good as a native 8 pin connector on a good power supply and when i look at this thermaltake converter it looks like 2x 4pin making a 8 pin, its just double wires comming out of the 4 pin

I just spoke to a Sales Rep at Fry's and she informed me that they currently only carry them at retail location and the website would not be stocking them for 3 more weeks. She also informed me that retail locations do not take phone orders.

i dont understand the pricing for this mobo.

in europe, even with the VAT, price comes in at E79.30 ($105.00) for Example 1

and for Example 2 - E75.00 w/o VAT (USD 98.00)

So why are US prices hovering around 130.00-140.00 ? The mobo was introduced in europe earlier than here by a couple weeks, which is certainly not enough time to justify such a price difference.

I hate to think our import taxes are more onerous than europe's VAT.

That's £75 - 75 pounds sterling not 75 euros & that price does incl. VAT (it's the law here that consumer prices must be shown incl. VAT whereas in the US it's normal to show them without sales tax).
£75 is nearly $150, without the VAT it's about $125 & Komplett is currently the cheapest that I know of - most are nearer £80.

i got this board thursday, not many problems, have my E6600 and 3.4ghz but wont be prime stable for more than an hour

3.4.ghz is botting in xp at 425x8

vcore 1.525
vdimm 2.2
vmch 1.3
vfsb 1.3

even tried the following voltages up to and still not stable for more than an hour:

vcore 1.575
vdimm 2.4
vmch 1.5
vfsb 1.5

got 2x 512 crucial ballistix 5300 3-3-3-8 2.2v ram

this ram is said to go just under 1100mhz 4-4-4-12 2.4v

but i can only get like 850mhz max @ 4-4-4-12 1T 2.2v (425 1:1). i tried 2T and 2.5v but still wont go much higher

this exact cpu was 12 hour stable at 3.4ghz on my Asus P5B but not on this fatal1ty

i think it is the advance memory timings which i dont know wat to set them to, i only know wat the set the usual 4 timings but not the rest. it also could be the bios and i think abit said there is a new bios in 2-3 weeks. max cpu temp is like 62 degrees C

vdrop is:
1.525 in bios
1.500 idle
1.492 load

so only 0.008 vdroop or 0.01 to round it into a nicer figure - my asus P5B vanilla is like 0.1 were as this is only 0.008

i paid about £75

came with about 6 of these new sata cables that ive never seen before, they have clips like on a Lan Rj45 wire so they dont fall out easily

packaging was very nice, cant remember what else was in the box
