New ABIT IP35 pro not booting up

I just got myself an ABit IP35 pro mb and when i assembeled the system and try to run it there was no display and the systems post code shows C1(Both with ram and without ram) and does not boot. I am very desperate as i have my A level exams coming up and i need the system badly. I hope that someone can help me on this. Thanks in advance.

can you post a full list of all the components?
Did you try with just 1 DIMM installed?

Kingston Value Ram 667 2 x 1 Gb sticks
Abit IP35 Pro MB
Segate 250 Gb sata
Nvidia Gforce 8500Gt 512mb
Hitachi DVD WR
Amigo 500 W PSU

& yes i tried with one DIMM also

do you have any different memory available to try....? Best thing to do is to try a different vid card, and different memory...what is the C1 code mean?

Strip the board bare (very important). Put it on the shipping box. Remove the battery and clear CMOS. Install only CPU, GPU, mouse, keyboard, and one stick of RAM. Wait 1/2 hour before replacing the battery and CMOS jumper. Connect the 24/20 and 8/4 pin power plugs from the PSU. Short the two power pins on the MB to start PC. You should see a video signal to the monitor. Try all four RAM slots and the other stick of RAM.

Kingston N5 DDR2 667 ValueRAM should work.

Yeah, try what SerpentRoyal said. I was gonna say put and old stick of RAM in and set the vMem to your new RAM's default, but ValueRAM runs at the DDR2 default (1.8V) so that shouldn't be a problem.

the pro model has built in pwr & reset buttons on the mobo, right next to the floppy input. just push the pwr button to start.

Don't bother TRYING to contact Abit... it is a huge waist of time.

What's the full part number? P35 will only support DDR2 667 or 800 RAM.

strangely enough they've been on holiday ...

It helps others to help you if they know what you are dealing with.
Please post a full system spec. incl. brands & models.

I laugh because I just had the exact same problem with a new IP35 Pro board last weekend.
Bought the board at Fry's about 5 months ago to use for a planned system upgrade.
Same issues, no display, keyboard lights don't come on, C1 post code.
As suggested, I tried all the troubleshooting methods, minimal hardware, board out of case on the box, a stick of Kingston DDR2 667 Valueram, etc.
I build several systems per year so I had a few working alternate parts on hand to try, and I swapped out everything including the cpu and power supply, videocard, memory, etc.
Did a full cmos clear several times, removed battery, also tried a new one. Nothing worked, the board is still "dead".
After two days I gave up and ordered a Gigabyte GA-P35-DS3R. My old trusty DS3 still works flawlessly, so I felt this would be a sensible replacement. Don't know what I was smoking when I bought that Abit board.

The deep CMOS clear (no power and battery) and 1.8V JEDEC RAM should allow you to enter BIOS without a HDD and optical drive. It's not fun if you happen to receive a POS board. Asus and Gigabyte also have DOA boards.

I've had this problem w/a few boards from diff manufs. True; sometimes you just get a totally dead board, but it's rare.

Believe it or not, most times the problem is a "stiff socket". Either the RAM, video card or one of the ATX power plugs is not seated tightly/correctly. RAM sockets are particularly bad about this due to how many little "fingers" are crammed into the small sockets.

Take the board out of the case and ensure that everything is seated correctly.

This board is very picky when it comes to RAM.

I purchased 3 different brands with similar specs and only the CORSAIR DDR2 800 1.9v worked.

My best advise? Buy an ASUS or Gigabyte. They stand by there product.

All 1.8V DDR2 667 or 800 from Crucial and Kingston boot without any problem. Your advice is without merit. The official JEDEC voltage for DDR2 667 or 800 is 1.8V. Garbage in, garbage out.

I disagree as I've run several different brands of high performance RAM in mine with no problems.
I'm leaning towards pebkac.

My best advise? Buy an ASUS or Gigabyte. They stand by there product.

abit stand by there product & it's not as is Asus & Gigabyte mobos don't have problems either.
The IP35 Pro has been voted best mobo of 2007 by several well known hardware sites for good reason (& Anandtech like it too ).
I don't know about the US but it's also reputedly the single best selling P35 mobo in the UK.

Dont know what to tell you...

My Kingston RAM did not work on this motherboad.
I bought 3 different types and these are the only ones that did not throw the C1 POST.

As soon as the CRUCIAL loaded it ran another error and I had to go into the Bios and manually set the voltage to 1.9v (from 1.8v)

Don't get me wrong. I love the product... not the support.

Im not saying this is the only RAM that will work. Im saying that this is the only RAM that worked for me.

I have a a few Gigabyte systems and have not had any problems with the product or support. (so I can't personally agree with you)

I have never owned an ASUS but, I know people who do and love them (one of them called ASUS and got someone on the phone )
