did someone send the im to you first, and you went to the webpage? or you just got it somehow? if you went to the website you may not have been prompted even, as your security settings may be too low.

http://www.buddylinks.net/uninstall.exe is now working. they finally put the uninstall utility up. no idea if it works or not, but as a last resort i'd go for it.

Why would there be anything from Symantec? The terms are clearly laid out for you if you read them. If you click it you're agreeing to let them use you to send spam IMs.

It installs two programs onto the computer:

An APS Trojan was found in the system restore folder on one of our RCCs' computers after downloading/installing the program. McAfee successfully removed the Trojan. It seems that the Trojan may come with the BuddyLinks Messaging Integration rather than the PSDT Messaging Integration program.

They have an online scanner don't they ? Would that work ? Helping a friend out...

Exactly. This isn't a "virus", its basically crapware that you are agreeing to download, symantec, trendmicro, etc. aren't going to cover this... maybe adaware or spybot will...
