I have an average of three posts per day. I wouldn't exactly call that "sitting at my computer all day", nor does it make me a master neffer like you seem to be suggesting.

You opened yourself up to this situation by asking for our opinions. You come across as a 10 year old who's jealous of his friends who know more about computers than he does. Get a life.

OK fine, it doesn't all suck. I'm just very fussy when I choose my components, and I try to ensure that I'm getting the best value possible for my money. That way I can afford to upgrade more often and keep my system up-to-date. Your system will be very fast. As others have said, you get points for "rice factor".

I don't think you'll have to wait long for nForce 4. A month or two at most.

The 3000+ would save you $200 which you could put towards an LCD monitor.

You could get a 250GB Maxtor HD w/ 16MB cache that would perform just as well as the Raptor and hold three times as much data.

Thermaltake makes terrible HSF's. The Thermalright XP-120 will destroy the heatpipe you were looking at.

Again, OCZ RAM instead of Corsair.

The Thermaltake case is silly. You would be much better served by an Antec case/PSU combo.

The Pioneer 108 is a great choice if that's what you're getting. If you were planning on the 107, get the 108. You might want a DVD reader as well.

If you must buy now, you could go with nForce 3. Asus makes the A8N. The 6800GT is a good choice for an AGP graphics card.

Waiting a month is well worth it IMO. PCI-E is the future. You'll have to replace two critical components if you buy now, unless you plan to just use the system for a few years until it's completely obsolete without ever upgrading the graphics card.

I've got the same CPU and CPU fan as you do but with a Thermalright XP-90 heatsink instead. With just that @ idle, she runs at around 40 C. I think that's alright considering the fact that I haven't finished adding all of my case fans. The Thermaltake Silent Cat (mine is 92mm also) is damned quiet and moves a nice amount of air.

I gave it an 8, over all it looks to be a good system, I wouldn't have chosen some of the parts you did but it's more personal prefrence and Price/Performance factors than anything else why I didn't rate it higher.

provide the speed of raptor and mucho more space

You chose a VIA chipset over the nForce3 which was stupid IMO. Then you spent $200+ extra on the CPU unnecessarily. For what you're spending on your memory, you could get some awesome OCZ stuff that would have been better.

.

The Via K8T800/Pro is a great chipset. Now having said that I would also recommend going with an Nforce 3 motherboard only if you were going to go Socket 754.

OCZ better then Corsair ? I am not sure who the n00b here is....

5, only because you are wasting a ton of money with "fast RAM" when it makes no difference at all over value ram for the athlon64.

The K8T800 Pro is quite nice (although I really can't compare to the nForce3, no VIA horror stories here).

7, because I like your choice in memory and most of your parts. As much as I liked the Thermaltake Brand, I think you would have been better off with the Tsunami Drea (also from TT) I've owned both and like the dream a lot more.
