doh, would've gotten this board if it were made by a more reliable motherboard manufacturer. PCChips is about as poor in quality as you can get.

Seems like a very good deal for someone looking to upgrade processor and give ma or pa the ol TBird or Duron you don't want aynmore , but don't want to spring for a whole setup. For the overclocking community , t'would seem prudent to wait for a Via integrated board with more overclocking friendly featuresl ike a good multiplier control and higher quality components. This board could be useful also if you wanted to make a very cheap server of some sort using the duron listed here. Just add some dirt cheap memory right now and a leftover hard drive and voila. There shouldn't be many power problems with cases as the integratd components are much lower power than a Geforce and a Duron doesn't draw all that much if not overclocked.

Certainly could use more than 2 PCI expansion slots. But it would look good on building something cheap to sell by the numbers and not the quality.

The benchmarks shows the SIS chipset to be very stable. Also this board and/or chipset isn't made for people that want to put in there own sound, ect. Thats why it is all integrated. Buy a Asus or Abit or something if you want your own hardware. 2 pci is plenty for the buget people happy with the sound, video, lan card, 56k modem, ect that comes on the board.

The board isn't made by PC Chips, it's made but ECS which is one of the top 5 OEM motherboard makers (by volume) in the world. All socketA motherboards (to date) from PC Chips and Amptron are re-badged ECS boards except for I-cue which amptron does make themselves.

I've never seen a site waste time reviewing any of these boards. Plenty of usenet complaints...

There's a large market for el cheapo boards and it doesn't matter who makes junk, even if ECS dares to put its own name on it. I've never read anything good about PCChips, Alton, or Aptron.

I wouldn't bet on this board being easy to OC. The site doesn't give any indication that it is. Integrated boards are made for value, and most people that use them (most, just a generalization) don't OC, so it's not worth while for the company to make it with OCers in mind.

I guess this is one of the first integrated boards on the market for Durons.... Not the best... so if you need a solution like this NOW, this is it.

gotta be careful getting a board like this. Even though cheap, it could have compatibility issues, especially with USB. Non-intel chipsets oftentimes have many usb chipset problems, SiS being one of the worst IMHO (I do tech support for a lot of usb devices).
