I recently upgraded the following PC:
Athlon XP 2400+ @2250 (150x15)
Abit NF7-S Rev2.0
512mb pc3200
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
80gb WD IDE interface
TB Santa Cruz
NEC 3500A
WinXP Pro SP2
to the following:
Athlon 64 2800+
Asus K8N (non deluxe)
512mb pc3200
ATI Radeon 9800 Pro
80gb WD SATA interface
TB Santa Cruz
NEC 3500A
WinXP Pro SP2
The new machine seems to be slower in every aspect when compared to the old machine. I have already installed the nvidia nforce3 250 drivers. I also double checked to see if the CPU speed is correctly recognized (1800mhz - 200x9) and it is being reported correctly. However, this new system is slower across the board. 3DMark05 scores are lower - 2233 vs 2146 as well as all multimedia applications. Sandra scores are also pretty low and it just seems more 'slow' in general. I had the understanding that the 64 2800+ would be faster than the XP 3200+. Any advice would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.
