Interesting to see people toasting their own political graves, haha. If anything like this bill actually ends up being law the GOP is doomed.
It's one of those cases where liberals are trying to save conservatives from themselves. Blue states aren't going to be impacted by this much at all but red states will be devastated.
They are too concerned about Democratic party "ignoring reality."
Reports on Twitter of beer being delivered for the GOP to the capital in anticipation of a celebration to mark their vote to deprive millions of Americans of affordable healthcare. This is a good look for them.
Now Trump/Repubs will get to blame the Dems in the Senate. Mission accomplished?
Passed the house 217-213
They'll use the Dems blocking all their "great" legislation to keep their base riled up in the mid-terms and their base will fall for it.It does seem like almost no Republicans actually want this bill to pass, they just don't want to be the ones blamed for it not passing. Will be interesting to see what the Senate does.
Oh goodie, these guys are writing the ads against themselves. But Rep. Thomas Garrett of Virginia said his "staff" had read all of the parts of the bill — which he plans to vote for.
"Oh, gosh," Garrett said on MSNBC on Thursday morning when asked if he has read the entire text of the GOP's American Health Care Act.
"Let's put it this way: People in my office have read all parts of the bill."
"I don't think any individual has read the whole bill," Garrett said. "That's why we have staff."
Republicans for years have accused Democrats of ramming through Obamacare legislation, known as the Affordable Care Act, through Congress without lawmakers having a full grasp of the implications of that law.

Actually that's something that's totally true. Congressmen have better things to do with their time (in theory, haha) than sit there poring over legislation. Hell, if you aren't really experienced in doing it you're going to misunderstand it anyway.
I'm willing to bet large portions of the Republicans who voted for this bill have little to no understanding of its practical effects and THAT is something they should be mercilessly attacked on. I mean it's just straight out political malpractice. Whether they read the whole bill or not themselves is kind of immaterial though.
https://www.nytimes.com/interactive...care-bill.html?smid=tw-nytimes&smtyp=cur&_r=1Surprisingly two democrats voted for it.

no House Democrat voted for this. It is all on Republicans. They own this just like Democrats own Obamacare.
They didn't read the bill themselves, and didn't wait for the CBO to read it and tell them what is likely to happen as a result of it. That is gross political negligence.
This is what he said:Hah...Lindsay Grahm just said he doesn't know what's in the bill. I can only presume that the Senate will write an entirely different bill, stamp it "AHCA", and pass it back to the House.
This is what he said:
“Don’t know what it’s in it,” Senator Lindsey Graham, Republican of South Carolina, said hours before the vote. “Waiting to see if it’s a boy or a girl.”
Apparently he thinks that millions of people losing health insurance is funny.
