New apartment has no bedroom lights. Suggestions?

I'm settling in to my new place and I really like it, but the bedrooms have no interior lighting. The kitchen is on the small side and the problem is little room for pots and pans. Help!

Do you guys have any ideas? I may end up buying some cheap lamps, but I wouldn't mind spending around 100 bucks or more for some nice lighting. Drilling holes is not allowed and I do not know how to cover them up anyway :\

Any other suggestions? This is my first time in an apartment complex.

Edit: See if you can find a halogen uplight. Back when we lived in the cold, depressing, rainy, dark, and gloomy east, we kept a bazillion watt uplight in the living room. You could see your bones.

Is there a light switch? If there's a light switch, there's usually a plug you can plug a lamp into to turn it on and off.

Aside from lamps, what would you expect? A string of LEDs around the top of a canopy bed?

Those halogens get crazy hot, we had one that over time left burn marks on our wall and ceiling. It's nice and bright, but that thing was such a fire hazard.

I don't dig halogen lighting. It's too intense. My favorite color/intensity is a 40w soft white incandescent. I need to buy a bunch while I still can.

My first and second apartments were like that... had to use lamps in the living room and both bedrooms and the sockets were tied to switches.

My current one has built-in lights, but I kind of wished they had a dimmer built in too.

Yes, haha! I may end up buying a few lamps because it's easy, but it would be great to hear some other alternatives people have.

Back on topic, would it be better to buy only a few floor lamps and putting in led lights instead? Electrical is included but I'm wondering if led lights put out much more light than very high wattage/HOT bulbs.

Most of these types of bulbs, on the package it will say how much light it puts out compared to the wattage of a regular bulb. Not all of them have it though.

OP, does the room at least have some wires for where a light would go? There should be wires hanging from the ceiling with little caps on the ends.

LED lights are extremely expensive. While regular light bulbs are 3 for $1, a single LED lamp will cost $20-$40.

Heat is always an issue in summer, so the main concern would be how often you intend to keep these light bulbs running. If you run a bulb all day and night, then CFL is the best solution. If you're putting lights in an area where the light is only turned on for 20 seconds at a time, then a conventional bulb is probably the best solution. That would be areas like storage closets or the attic of a house.
My bedroom has 2 lamps in it. 1 is only periodically used when I'm looking for things; it's a 150W conventional bulb and it's brighter than the sun. My desk lamp is on for hours at a time, and it's a 13W CFL bulb.

Really really depends on where you live. In a many cities, it practically never makes sense to buy over renting on a typical income... the NYTimes did a whole spreadsheet on it which I'd look up if I weren't on my cellphone.

My parents property taxes alone are practically what I pay in rent and that's not touching mortgage and other home owner expenses not associated with renting.

Back to the OP, idg what you're looking for. You need lights, presumably ones that are more convenient than candles. go to IKEA, Walmart, Target, or a local furniture store and buy some lamps.

Since the bedrooms aren't very large, I was trying to think of a way to hang lights on the walls or somehow the ceiling without drilling holes. I can't think of a way that doesn't cost more money than paying fines for wall damage
