This seemed really interesting to me. Does anyone know of any US Cable providers that are actually planning on coming out with Gigabit service over Docsis 3.0? I thought that they were talking about Docsis 3.1 coming out soon?

Im sure Comcast will sell us 1Gbps and cap us at 250GB.

Anyways I dont know of any cable providers that are mass rolling out 1Gbps. Though I did hear Comcast had a customer that activated their first 1Gbps modem about a month ago in Philly.

Comcast is already trying to sell 2Gbps service with the 250GB cap. They could sell us 100Gbit service and the caps will still be 250GB.

I remember seeing such 32 channel modems nearly 2 years ago. Unfortunately at least in my area, Time Warner Cable, does not use the additional channels because of the way they deliver TV services. If you are lucky that your cable provider uses such channels and this modem is approved, (most Motorola/Arris modems are) then feel free to buy.

More channels mean lean chance of slowdown during congestion. Think of it like a 32 lane highway. When there's traffic you got 32 lanes to choose from and possibly weave around.

Can't speak for the US but in Canada Rogers ISP offers a 1Gbps down / 50 Mbps up connection on Docsis 3.0

Entouch in Houston has rolled out 1Gbps internet syncronous 1Gbps/1Gbps, but only in fiber connected neighborhoods and it is over Docsis 3.0 using an Arris DG3270 modem. I was told the Docsis 3.1 will be available soon.
