John or anyone could you please post some results in Comanche4, Max Payne, UT2003 Flyby,
IL-2 Sturmovik, and Jedi Knight II. Or at least Comanche4 and UT2003 Flyby please. Like could you compare the fps you got before and what fps you get now? Plus please say what resolution, detail settings you are using (as in maximum everything, medium everything, and so on), and what level of FSAA and AF is on ? (Like are you using 4x FSAA or 6x and are you using 8x AF or 16x AF)
I love this battle with ATI vs Nvidia! Its really heating up for sure! Go ATI and Nvidia please keep creating new, faster, better image quality, etc video cards at a rapid rate. Faster than you have ever before! Also ATI and Nvidia please create new drivers with faster speed in games, better image quality in games, etc at a rapid rate too! Like faster than you have ever before! Go so fast that we can't even keep up!

BTW GPU comes up as 9500 now instead of 9700/9500.

Keen observation about seperating the 9500 and 9700. Nutty that they would do that now. These are driver 6292 while the last were 6255. The Control Panel no longer attempts network access (the previous one did even when WHQL signature checks were disabled). The extended Overlay options are finally back maybe with some new features even (it's been so long). 1280x960 is a Standard Mode for the second time running so must be permanent now. The claimed performance increases in UT2003 are impressive and I hope they translate directly to Raven Shield. I suppose I will have to give this driver a thorough testing tonight... oh woe is me

Hmmm... I just noticed that these drivers recognize my 9500 Pro w/ the overclockable bios as a 9700 series card. Anyone experiencing the same? Is this good, bad, or neither?

Hopefully this clears up the ONLY issue I have with my 9700pro. Now off to find that cryptic method of uninstalling/reinstalling drivers from Rage3d

I lost about 12 3d points in 3dmark2k1SE, which is nothing. My display does seem to be a bit more responsive with the new drivers. I was getting occasional jaggy lines on my LCD before, but I haven't seen any since upgrading to 3.1. Let's hope it stays that way. My feeling on the timing of this release is that it is the day before the new 3dmark comes out... Perhaps this driver set is designed with that in mind... Also, no new capture drivers, for those wondering. Still the ones posted on January 10th.

Yep, I saw now on ATI's website that the capture drivers are still the same. Rage3d had posted that the ones I linked to were new. Sorry.

I don't think they felt they had to . . . also when drivers are "rushed" you get the Quack/Det 40Beta fiascos.

My own "timing" is bad . . . I finally dumped Win98SE in favor of Win2K yesterday and d/l'ed the 3.0 Drivers yesterday . . . Unreal II is . . . well, unreal graphics . . . getting 3.1 as I type . . . d/l speed is OK for dial-up.

No instabilities here. Then again, I never had any problems with v6128 either. Anyway, they seem to be working fine. Performance is down slightly across the board with all benchmark utilities and games though (don't use FSAA or Aniso. for Direct3d, just 1280x960).

Control Panel and drivers are matched, at least until the former is finalized according to ATI's plans. So be sure to get both new and uninstall both old.

These drivers are keepers.
