Wow I'm happy now The new drivers got rid of that silly checkerboard pattern I had been seeing when most of my games started. But even better then that the little scan line that would start at the bottom of the screen and slowly rise is gone! I had been going nuts thinking some magnetic source was causing this.

Only played a little BF1942 last night, but it seemed to be running smoother at 1024x768, 4xAA, 8xAF after I installed these.

chizow you use system restore? Its better to uninstall video card drivers by add/remove programs then getting rid of everything it left. Then install new drivers.

Bottom-line is ATI still needs to work on their driver delivery/removal package.

chizow do you leave system restore on because you know it does slow down gaming and everything?

How do you find the legibility of the text during the game with yoru current settings?
Instead of leaving it on all the time why not just make a restore point before you do something major to your system?Yep, but the downtime required for unnecessary Windows installations is a less palatable solution than taking a small hit to performance.
A lot of Direct3D games exhibit text problems when anisotropic filtering is enabled, regardless of the manufacturer. This is a side-effect of the filtering combined with the way certain Direct3D games display text.Is it problem with these drivers or with the way the card implements AA and AF?

In the case of ATi, fixing it is usually achieved by toggling the value of the alternate pixel centre setting in the driver control panel.

Is there a way that I could do this?

Running 3.1s on The Moobox in my signature (Windows2000/Radeon8500). I noticed a pretty significant boost in performance in Counter-Strike with Quality 2x FSAA. FSAA also seems to run pretty good in Neverwinter Nights, but I didn't try it with my old drivers.
