Question. Were you super confused because you hadn't seen Thor? Thor would be the one movie I would tell people they'd have to see before The Avengers.

I liked Thor. I think the biggest problem with it was that it just kind of threw you in and expected you to pick everything up. Stupid Kenneth Branagh expecting his audience to be smart.

Not that much, but only because there was one specific line where somebody said "Loki, brother of Thor". They mentioned it early enough that the whole movie made sense thankfully, though I probably still should have seen it before hand. I'm sure there was other stuff worth knowing but I never felt lost.

I basically got "dragged" to this movie (did NOT care to see it), but a few friends said they heard it was really good so I just went along with it.

This is one of the best action movies I've seen in a long time and definitely best Marvel film since IM1. I'll be buying this when it hits BR.

Went to see it today...sold out

Found an awesome pizza place a couple of miles down from the theater, so it wasn't a total loss.

Went to see it tonight. It was amazing, everything I was hoping it would be. This will definitely be one of my favorites for a long time.

Did they ever explain why Loki had next to no magic ability?

Other then the fake images of himself I don't remember him doing anything special.

I suppose it could had been a bit confusing / make him much stronger like in the comics but a bit more would had been nice.

he did other stuff too with his staff... like mind control etc... they almost made it appear that his magic came from the staff and without it, he had no powers

btw, great great movie. best action flick I have seen in a while

I have a feeling a lot of people are like this with movies. Everyone is so cynical that they have to be forced to experience something new.

It was £14 including tax. No popcorn or anything, just the ticket.

Unlucks, must have been in London or something, my Cinema charges £7.85 per ticket.

Next time go on Orange Wednesday or something.

So I'm still confused about Chris Evans.

He's both the Human Torch and Captain America. How the fuck is that going to work if they continue this?

When silver Surfer shows up, like he did in the last Fantastic Four movie, he heralds Galactus. Eventually, they cross over a bit in the infinity saga and there is some more corroboration between the fantastic four and the avengers in later series.

Or they just going to ignore all that despite bringing in Thanos?

I don't think this movie recognizes that one.

Crazy! F4 team + Avenger team movie? That would be 10+ superheroes.
How about we throw in the X-men team, Daredevil, and spiderman...

...And the Street Fighter team and make a Marvel vs Street Fighter movie.

Though, I would like to see them do the Marvel Civil War movies.

I would be happy with a simple Hulk vs. Superman crossover movie

That's basically the infinity gauntlet saga. Thanos gets the gauntlet and all 5 gems of cosmic power (?). Basically the gems inside the gauntlet make anyone wielding the gauntlet as strong as any of the Universe Aspects, such as the Beyonder. So Thanos basically becomes so strong that nothing can beat him in our universe until Spiderman gets the same power advantage from the multi-verse aspects. Thanos goes on a rampage and basically kills off every single Marvel hero and most of the villains too if memory serves me right. It's been a long time since I read comics though.

But yah you have Xmen, Avengers, Fantastic Four, Spiderman, and well every hero at the time trying to fight Thanos and stop him from getting the gauntlet put together. Then when they initially fail that, they try to all stop him and get their asses handed to them. I remember wolverine getting turned into crystal or ice and being shattered apart so he couldn't regeneration back to life. Pretty much they all die during that saga. Of course it's all "made right" at the end of the saga though.

Does Marvel even own the movie rights for the Fantastic Four? I know they don't for Spider-Man (Sony Pictures does, hence the reboot), but I can't find any decisive evidence. The two films were done by 20th Century Fox.

Don't know.

I do know the Avengers and the associated origin movies have all stayed pretty damn true to the comics. A few changes to allow the stories to be "modernized" but no changes that completely goes against the comics. In the comics the original Ironman had the same problem. Shrapnel trying to force his way into his heart. He had a "vest", and not a little LED light on his chest hooked to magnet but the concept is the same.

Fantastic Four and Rise of the Silver Surfer were both decent movies. Not great, but close enough to the original comic story lines. Could have been done better, but they sufficed. I wouldn't call them great movies though.

Still, the setup for the cross over, which the actual comic story arc progression has happen pretty soon with Thanos being involved means the Avengers and Fantastic Four should be working together pretty damn soon.

But that would also have to involve the X-Men. Which would have to involve that shitting movie franchise. I'm sorry, but the X-men movies changed SOOO much from the comics that they don't fit the stories anymore. That was annoying as fuck to watch. They were alright as movies, but overall I wasn't happy with them.

Which is why I LOVE the avengers right now. They've stayed pretty damn true to the original stories thus far.

Marvel studios does not own the rights to Spider-Man, Fantastic Four, or X-Men. The current rights agreements all require the rights holders to put out movies every so often (like 5 years or so) or the rights revert to Marvel. Until such time as the rights revert the franchises won't (can't) be incorporated into the larger Marvel universe.

This is why Spider-Man has been rebooted and X-Men was rebooted with "First Class": they prevent the rights from going back to Marvel. Expect Fantastic Four to revert as that franchise's film treatment was crap.
