Anyone BofA customers notice these new fancy ATM's they have installed? The extra big touch screen with the nice resolution is great, taking out money has never been easier, but have any of you tried to make a DEPOSIT using this new method?

Old way was to get all of your checks, write out a deposit slip with a total, stick it in an envelope and insert the envelope into the machine. Done.

NOW, they have this new 'paperless' way of doing it where you have to insert one check at a time, and the machine scans each check and asks you to verify the amount it scanned, and then confirm and asks if you want to scan another. THIS TAKES FOREVER. Same thing for depositing cash, although I dont know if its bill by bill.

I was kind of annoyed when I deposited 3 checks the other day for the first time using this system, but nothing too crazy.

THEN today I got in the drive up ATM line to make a quick withdrawal before I got to work, one car in front of me already at the ATM and one car immediately pulls in behind me.

This lady in front must have deposited 25 freaking checks!!! I couldnt get out of the lane either because there were cars behind (some honking, some leaving). I waited close to 15 minutes waiting for her to finish her transaction.

Drive up ATM is supposed to be for quick withdrawals and deposits, BOFA have now eliminated the "quick" part.

Cliffs:
New BOFA ATM scans deposit checks one at a time
Waited behind some B*TCH depositing 20+ checks today
Annoyed

i like it even though i do not have more than 1 or 2 checks at a time to deposit. it can take up to 40 cash bills at one time to deposit. very convenient IMO. yea but if that chick had 25 checks...she should went inside.

I love the new ATMs, personally. I use check and cash deposits all the time without problems.

So having her get the envelope, endorse the checks and total her deposit would have been quicker?

The new ATM's are great

I love the new ATM's. I took a gamble and stuck $600 in $20's into the machine. It was kinda neat to see the machine just yank a giant wad of cash. As for scanning checks.. it's great for a few checks, but anyone doing more than that should just go inside and fill out a slip. I dunno why'd you spend more time outside doing it annoying everyone else in line... unless that's your goal, in which you're a jackass.

I just used it for the first time and I loved it. Most checks I ever deposited at once was 3 and those were for rebates. Usually I just deposit is one. It's awesome cause you don't need to use any envelopes and don't need to write the account number on the back of check. I especially hated the envelope part.

ATM = automated teller machine. You dont need another Machine following ATM as that is redundant.

I haven't had any problems with them, except the keys are hard to press very quickly in the windows ones. I never have to deposit more than 2 checks at a time, so it doesn't bother me, but I could see how it would be a problem for people who don't live near BOA ATMs and have to deposit so many checks at once.

Never had a problem with the machines. In fact, I love it. I only deposit 1-2 checks at a time so no issues here.

Does anyone else see these as having a security flaw in that the length of time it takes for each check/bill to deposit means your account is "open" on the machine longer and therefore you are more open to being mugged/robbed for your account balance?

I get that its easier if you are doing one or two checks, but they should implement some kind of maximum limit on check deposits. Im sure the software could limit it to 5 per hour or sometihng. Any more than that, GO INSIDE

OT but why do drive up ATMs have braille on the buttons?

Could imagine being so unkind? Arresting a man for driving while blind.

WTF? The BofA ATMs in Florida are the nice, high-res touch screens, but depositing money works waaaay differently. You can sign/endorse as many checks as you want, and put them in ATM Envelopes they've got right beside it, along with any cash you might want to deposit. You enter the total amount on the screen ($30 check, $10 check, $20 bill; enter $60.00 on the screen) and then it just eats the envelope.

I've alwasy asserted it's a cost saving measure. Why make two seperate keypads and have to worry about which keypad goes to which machine? Just mass produce one keypad off a template, and install in all machines.

OT, No I have not used the new ATM's yet, thank you for your interest in that aspect.

I like them but I only ever deposit one check at a time. I always put the check in the wrong way, you'd think I would've figured it out by now.

Weird. I've never seen that here in NYC. I just stuff my checks into a deposit envelope and stuff it into the machine all at once without writing a single digit. You tell the ATM how much you're depositing and the machine apparently stamps the envelope once inside the machine with the account number and total. None of the BS you're talking about.

I love them, except for the fact that the ones around here always seem to have "Cash deposits temp. unavailable" all over them. WTF? That's what I f'in need!

Yeah I read your post. If the ATM is too slow for you, walk into the branch... you could use the opportunity while inside to: 1.) deposit checks and 2.) complain about the ATM!
